Nevada’s GOP governor has come out against President Trump’s plan to send the National Guard to the U.S.-Mexico border. A spokeswoman for Gov. Brian Sandoval said in an email to the Associated Press Friday that Sandoval doesn’t believe deploying members to the border would be “an appropriate use” of the National Guard. Defense Secretary James Mattis signed a memo Friday authorizing the National Guard to deploy up to 4,000 troops to the border.
