A Manhattan woman was charged with assault this week for allegedly brutally beating her three-year-old daughter after the toddler microwaved her cell phone and destroyed it. The woman had been taking refuge in a Hell's Kitchen shelter for battered women. Officers say that Krystle Reyes, 28, began assaulting her daughter around 5 p.m. on Thursday night.
