The autopsy and toxicology report released Friday show Skaggs had a combination of fentanyl, Oxycodone and Oxymorphone in his system.

Major League Badebwll will build it, and the Yankees and White Sox will come. The clubs are headed to heaven — err, Iowa — in August of 2020, where they’ll face off at the location of the iconic baseball film “Field of Dreams”, MLB announced on Thursday morning. A temporary, 8,000 seat stadium will be built at the site of the 1989 movie starring Kevin Costner, according to ESPN. The announcement was made with Yankees star outfielder Aaron Judge partaking in a scene from the movie, where he asks the famous line “is this heaven?” originally said by Ray Liotta’s...

The Philadelphia Phillies are doing more than just competing for a place in this year's baseball playoffs. On Friday, the club filed suit in New York federal court over an attempt to grab ownership to the "Phanatic," the team's mascot. According to the complaint, Bill Giles, Phillies' executive vp, created the vision for the mascot in the 1970s — a green, fat, furry, big-nosed character accessible to children. The team says it worked with a company called Harrison/Erickson to develop the costume for the Phanatic. The firm was paid $215,000, according to the complaint. Dave Raymond, an intern in the...

Four fans were escorted out of Oriole Park at Camden Yards after unfurling a pro-Donald Trump banner during Thursday’s game between the Orioles and Blue Jays, according to a Baltimore Sun report. The red, white and blue banner, which supported Trump’s reelection campaign, bore the messages “Keep America Great!” and “Trump 2020.” It was unfurled during the eighth inning of the Orioles’ 11-2 loss.

The gaying of America’s “national pastime” is nearly complete. This year, every single Major League Baseball (MLB) team will have hosted a “Pride Night” except for the Houston Astros and Texas Rangers, although both of those teams have held homosexual “pride” events previously. Teams routinely post pictures of these events on social media, treating “pride” as just another theme night, yet they simultaneously wrap these events in a mantle of social justice, hyping their promotion of “diversity” and “inclusion.” My hometown team, the Washington Nationals (Nats), boasts the longest running “Pride Night” of all major league teams. “On the scoreboard...

Mariano Rivera, the New York Yankees’ nonpareil closing right-handed pitcher who helped them win five World Series titles, should be shunned, according to the lefty online journal Daily Beast. Inducted on July 21 to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York, Mr. Rivera is anathema to the Beast and its ilk on four counts: — He is a black American athlete who will not trash America.— He is an evangelical Christian.— He is a vocal supporter of Israel.— Perhaps most damning, he has actually participated in White House events with President Trump.Robert Silverman, author of “Inside Baseball Hall of...

Jim Bouton, the author of Ball Four, died this week. Half a decade before he wrote that classic, Bouton was a star pitcher for the New York Yankees. But arm trouble derailed him and his decline coincided with the end of the Yankee dynasty. Bouton reinvented himself as a knuckleball pitcher, caught on with the expansion Seattle Pilots, and chronicled his season with them (and with the Houston Astros after he was traded) in a behind the scenes look at the national pastime that captured both the foibles, the anxieties, and the grind of players’ existence. To say that Ball...

A Texas-owned business will be honored on Monday at President Donald Trump’s “Made in America” product showcase. Nokona has been chosen to represent Texas at the event. President Trump invited companies from throughout the United States to be celebrated. The event will be held at the White House and is a tribute to American workers, Trump says. Nokona is the last baseball factory in America. It is located in the small town of Nocona, which is two hours north of Dallas. Employees stamp and stitch about 250 gloves a day. “Sometimes, I think in America people assume stuff spits out...

On July 12, 1979, 48,000 fans packed Chicago’s Comiskey Park for Disco Demolition Night. Some spectators went out of control. "They got really, I would say, violent," says Darlene Jackson, who was 10 years old when the White Sox held Disco Demolition Night. "It was so primal and tribal." Jackson was jolted as she watched the postgame news reports.

CLEVELAND -- American League All-Star Game starter Justin Verlander told ESPN on Monday that the balls used in Major League Baseball games this season are "a f---ing joke" and that he believes "100 percent" that the league has implemented juiced balls to increase offense. "It's a f---ing joke," said Verlander, an eight-time All-Star who is starting his second All-Star Game on Tuesday. "Major League Baseball's turning this game into a joke. The annual Major League Baseball All Star Game returns tonight in Cleveland, Ohio. Along with graduations, fireworks, barbecues and vacations, it is an American tradition to celebrate summer watching the game’s best players gathered together for one night under the stars on a Tuesday night in July. The All Star Game is a catalyst for nostalgic memories of childhood when only baseball cards, stick ball, wads of chewing gum and box scores mattered to most American kids. In 1970 baseball returned the game to the fans by giving them the right, privilege and obligation to select the starting eight for...

This is the astonishing moment a fight breaks out among mainly female fans at a Chicago baseball game, before one woman lashes out at security as she tries to stop them restraining her. The brawl was filmed at the MLB game between the White Sox and Chicago Cubs at the White Sox's Guaranteed Rate Field ground yesterday. Footage shows at least three separate fights going on, with female fans hitting each other in the face, pulling hair, and pushing each other, before one woman resists when security officials intervene

A California newspaper said it has received multiple threats over an article speculating that late Los Angeles Angels pitcher Tyler Skaggs died of an opiod overdose — leading it to scrub the story from its website. The Santa Monica Observer reported soon after Skaggs’ death that the 27-year-old pitcher — who was found dead July 1 in his room at the Hilton Southlake Hotel in Texas — may have been getting opiod prescriptions from multiple doctors who were unaware of each other’s treatments, Deadline reported. Texas police quickly denied the report, saying there was no information yet that suggested an...
