Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) signed a bill banning lab-grown meat in his state Wednesday, in what he described as an effort to “save our beef.” “Today, Florida is fighting back against the global elite’s plan to force the world to eat meat grown in a petri dish or bugs to achieve their authoritarian goals,” DeSantis said in a press release Wednesday. “Our administration will continue to focus on investing in our local farmers and ranchers, and we will save our beef.” The bill, S.B. 1084, makes it “unlawful” for people to “manufacture for sale, sell, hold or offer for...

New York City could soon ban detergent pods across the five boroughs in the latest “green” push from lawmakers. The “Pods are Plastic Bill,” introduced by City Councilman James Gennaro last week, would make it illegal to sell any pods and laundry sheets if they’re made with polyvinyl alcohol. Fines for selling the pods would start at $400, double for a second violation and top off at $1,200 for flouting the rules more than twice, if the bill becomes law. The bill would also require education and outreach to businesses on the ban for the first year. The law wouldn’t...

The Florida Legislature got an unlikely shout-out earlier this month. China Weekly, a Chinese language publication, mentioned a Florida bill that would ban the sale and manufacturing of cultivated meat, also sometimes referred to as lab-grown meat. If the bill passes, Florida would be the first state to ban the sale of cultivated meat. The industry worries Florida’s action could cause other states to follow suit. A lawmaker in Alabama has proposed a similar ban, and bills in New Hampshire, Oklahoma and Iowa would impose other restrictions on these products.

Been telling folks lately to be aware. Take out those ear plugs so you can hear whats going on around you. God gave us ears to hear dangers along with all the other sound waves. Look at the gym for instance. If Abdul came in blazing how long would it take for 90% to hear it. It would be too long and too late. Told the kids, keep your ears open these days you may hear danger b4 you see it.

EU ministers of health have reached political agreement to strengthen EU tobacco legislation in an effort to curb the number of smokers. “I do believe that this is truly an important step because it is about stopping the next generation ever getting hooked,” Irish health minsiter James Reilly, chairing the talks, told reporters on Friday (21 June). The ministers endorsed a deal that would ban menthol, fruit, or chocolate flavored cigarettes. Other rules include imposing large graphic warnings. The European Commission had proposed a warning to cover 75 percent of the package but health ministers agreed to 65 percent. Member...

CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- City ordinance or not, a woman said a municipal worker shouldn't have removed a sign she put up welcoming her daughter home from military service in Iraq. Kelly Smith, 44, put the handmade cardboard "Welcome Back Soldier" sign the size of a desktop calendar in a median near her home in preparation for the return of her 19-year-old daughter, U.S. Army Pfc. Amanda Smith. But a city compliance officer removed the sign Tuesday along with some of the yellow ribbons on knee-high stakes that lined the roadside near Smith's home. The city allows only road signs...
