It looks like a North Carolina man is holding a priceless piece of New Mexico history. Experts have verified a tintype picture bought for just dollars is that of Billy the Kid and the man who killed him, Sheriff Pat Garrett. It’s a find that could be worth millions. A cool old picture of five men in the Old West went up for sale at a flea market in Ashville, North Carolina in 2011. It caught the attention of history buff Frank Abrams, who decided to spend the $10 to buy it. The picture sat up on a wall as...

It appears a small plane was forced to land on Interstate 26 on Thursday evening. Several News 13 viewers have called the newsroom, reporting a crash. And video shows the aircraft on fire. Asheville fire officials have confirmed the forced landing. An airport spokesperson said the aircraft reported problems and said it needed assistance. It then landed on the interstate between Long Shoals and Airport roads. The airport deployed a fire truck for mutual aid, airport officials said. Skyland Fire and Rescue and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol are on scene. According to the NCDOT, I-26 westbound will be...

Business owners and workers in a Democrat-run North Carolina tourist town said their downtown district is deteriorating amid rising crime, rampant homelessness and diminishing police. Multiple people who work in downtown Asheville, North Carolina, bemoaned the condition of the city and pinpointed a lack of police presence to its decline, according to an investigation by local outlet Asheville Watchdog. "We really need beat cops, police on bicycles," Rose Garfinkle, who lives and works downtown, told the outlet. "The lack of a police presence is noticeable. Things have taken a turn in the last five years." Violent crime has spiked in...

An attorney for Richard L. Campbell, the man accused of punching a protester outside a Donald Trump rally in Asheville, North Carolina, last month tells Breitbart News that a new video produced by James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas showing a Democratic consultant claiming responsibility for the incident should exonerate her client. “Mr. Campbell never assaulted anyone,” attorney Ruth Smith told Breitbart News via e-mail. “He went to a political rally as was his Constitutional right. “As a result of Ms. Teter’s hoax, he and his wife have been tarred and feathered in the media and he has been charged as a...

A jury in Ashville, North Carolina has found a man not guilty of taking a bear out of season, and of discharging a firearm in city limits, by reason of self defense.   Ernest James Page had always  claimed that he shot the 150-175 pound bear in self defense.  The jury discussed the issue for over two hours, but unanimously agree with Page.  It is significant that Page went to a jury trial, using a court appointed public defender, and won.  The District Attorney justified charging Page with these remarks: Moore said he has dismissed some cases in the past...

A group of seventy-five to 100 people staged an impromptu march against Amendment One downtown early Wednesday morning. Starting spontaneously just hours after the people of North Carolina voted to amend the state's constitution to ensure that marriage between one man and one woman will be the state's only legal domestic union, the march at times bordered on becoming a riot. Protesters chanted obscene slogans and threw firecrackers, encouraging bar patrons to join them as they marched through the streets, ending up at the Vance Monument, where the march began. Despite its rowdiness, the march remained peaceful. After blocking the...
  • Pool Reports: Obama Trip to North Carolina April 23, 2010 (golfing, of course)

President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama boarded a baby Air Force One on a sunny Friday morning, kicking off their weekend vacation in Asheville, N.C. The smaller plane was to accomodate the first couple's short flight to the modest Asheville airport in Western North Carolina, where they plan to enjoy a quiet weekend with no scheduled public events. (Forecasted thunderstorms in Asheville, however, could foil any presidential golf plans). Marine One landed at Andrews AFB at 11:58 a.m. The first couple boarded baby AF1 at noon. POTUS is dressed in suit and tie. FLOTUS is more casual, in all...

Here is a photo essay of the Sarah Palin rally in Ashville, NC on 10/26/2008. There was a HUGE crowd of well-behaved supporters and volunteers that started to arrive hours before the scheduled 4:00 p.m. door opening. As you can see in one of the shots, my gear passed the sniff test from the Secret Service security dog. I whipped out my G9 from my vest and grabbed the shot. The pup did leave a nice blob of slobber on the top on one of my camera bodies, but no worse than our Labrador Tucker has ever surprised me with....
