The Democratic Party has become the anti-values, counterculture party. That does not mean all Democrats lack values. A number of my friends who consider themselves Democrats are strongly moral people. They are offended by the vulgarity that has become commonplace in Hollywood. Their boys are Eagle Scouts. They believe marriage is between a man and a woman. They are active in their church and find no offense in the Pledge of Allegiance.
