(VIDEO-AT-LINK) Conservative kingpin goes head-to-head with president. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, opened a Senate hearing into amnesty Thursday with a broadside against President Obama, effectively calling him an “emperor.” The senator, who is chairing the subcommittee hearing, began by noting the Obama himself had admitted 22 times that he had no legal authority to grant amnesty to illegal immigrants. Cruz quoted the president’s own words on the subject, when Obama had declared, “I am not an emperor.” Sadly, the senator noted, things changed after the November election, when, somehow, “He achieved the power of an emperor.” Cruz is chairing the...

This is not a post about being right. Politics is not just about being right and it never has been. The way things work in a representative democracy is that you not only have to BE right, you have to convince a critical mass of other people in this country that you are right, otherwise being right will do you no good. Is it right to shut down the federal Department of Education? Probably. (SNIP) Personally, I’m glad Eric Cantor lost. Personally, although I’m broadly in favor of immigration reform (depending on the particulars), I think it would be suicide...

Nationally syndicated conservative columnist Michelle Malkin, founder of the website Twitchy, tells Breitbart News that Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker—a potential 2016 GOP presidential candidate—needs to be vetted. She also says Walker’s “problems” run much deeper than the decision to hire—then quickly let go of—pro-amnesty communications aide Liz Mair, who had taken shots at Iowa. “Scott Walker has much bigger problems than the ill-considered hiring and firing of one D.C. operative,” Malkin said in an email. "What does he really stand for and is he fully equipped to bear the slings and arrows of his enemies on a national and global...

All undeclared and declared Republican presidential candidates are on record as to having supported or still supporting "comprehensive immigration reform" or a "pathway to citizenship", which is of course, AMNESTY: - Ted Cruz: Sen. Ted Cruz also supports temporary legalization status in the immigration bill - Sarah Palin, 2008: When asked if she supported “a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants,” Palin responded that she did. - Scott Walker: Yes, Gov. Walker supported a path to citizenship - Mike Huckabee: Mike Huckabee supports amnesty for illegal aliens - Chris Christie: Chris Christie supports amnesty for illegal aliens - Marco Rubio:...

One of the most admirable things about Europe is that most (if not all) of the right-wing rhetoric that you hear in the US is explicitly against the law there. For example, attempting to link Islam with terrorism, saying that gay marriage isn’t really marriage, or saying that trans women aren’t really women would get you charged with discrimination and/or incitement to hatred. Numerous European public figures have been charged with hate crimes for implying that large-scale immigration is connected to higher crime. In fact, a politician in Sweden was prosecuted for hate crimes for posting statistics about immigrant crime...

Free housing will soon be available for DREAMers—illegal immigrants who came to the U.S. as children—attending the University of Texas-Pan American (UTPA). The Dream Homes initiative, the latest project by nonprofit organization Sand2Pearl, will provide rent-free housing to undocumented UTPA students in South Texas. The home, located within walking distance to UTPA’s campus, will open in August and house seven undocumented students during the 2015-2016 academic year. “The number of Dreamers who will benefit in August will be seven, but the students who will ultimately benefit will be countless," Sarah Chavez, executive director of Sand2Pearl, told NBC News. Chavez and her...

Militant feminazi Liz Mair was forced to resign from the Scott Walker campaign Tuesday after Mair’s radical pro-amnesty, pro-gay marriage, pro-abortion views went viral… (SNIP) "She is very good at her job. She is also a friend of mine. I have known Liz for a number of years…I am very saddened to see an organized effort by conservatives to have Governor Walker fire Liz Mair…it is really appalling to see self-described Christians showing as little grace." (SNIP) Even after two autopsies, a toxicology report, surveillance footage, and additional witness testimony called into question his initial reading of events– Erickson refused...

United States Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ), today joined Sens. Tom Coburn (R-OK), Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and seven other cosponsors to introduce The Corn Ethanol Mandate Elimination Act of 2013. The bill eliminates the corn ethanol mandate within the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS), which requires a yearly increase in the amount of renewable fuel that must be blended into the total volume of gasoline refined and consumed in the United States. The RFS, which was first enacted in 2005 and then expanded in 2007, requires refiners and blenders to use 16.55 billion gallons of renewable fuel in 2013. "In 2005, Congress...

Ted Cruz has convened a hearing Thursday on the pending court fight over the president’s executive actions on immigration.Since January, Cruz – who is edging closer to a formal bid for president – has chaired the Judiciary subcommittee on Oversight, Agency Action, Federal Rights and Federal Courts. The hearing, titled “Reining in Amnesty: Texas v. United States and Its Implications,” will feature Kris Kobach, the secretary of state in Kansas, a leading hardliner on immigration and voter fraud.Earlier this month, Kobach’s many critics pounced after he asserted that if the president’s immigration orders are allowed to stand,...

Federal immigration officers released another 30,000 immigrants with criminal records last year, following the 36,000 it released in 2013, the government announced Wednesday — though it promised to take steps to cut down on the problem. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the agency that handles detention and removal of illegal immigrants, said it will no longer allow overcrowding to be the main reason a dangerous illegal immigrant is released, and will require a top supervisor to approve the cases of any serious criminals that officers want to release. Overall, ICE released 30,558 criminal aliens in fiscal 2014, which is down...

An aide to Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker's (R) likely presidential campaign resigned late Tuesday night just a day after her hire was announced. Liz Mair, who was a digital strategist for Walker, came under a storm of criticism for her advocacy for some relatively liberal policy positions and colorful tweets that critics claimed were insulting to Iowans. "In other news, I see Iowa is once again embarrassing itself, and the GOP, this morning. Thanks, guys," Mair wrote about a January event hosted by conservative Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa), according to the Associated Press. "The sooner we remove Iowa's front-running status,...

THE goal of fixing our broken immigration system is further away than ever. President Obama’s executive orders — which would allow up to five million of about 11 million illegal immigrants to stay in this country — have been challenged in the courts, and Republicans, a majority in the new Congress, have held up appropriations and confirmations in retaliation. Neither side is ready to compromise. But the failure to fix our immigration laws is not an exclusively Republican or Democratic failure. Just as we created the problem together, we must solve it together. There is one way to start: Mandate...

Axelrod’s Wish: On page 424 of his recent memoir, Obama’s former top strategist David Axelrod describes running into Fox chieftain (and immigration amnesty supporter) Rupert Murdoch at a dinner in the fall of 2010: During the dinner, Murdoch, who was seated beside me, insisted that the president had to move on immigration reform. …. “But the solution has to be comprehensive,” I said. “We can’t just attack a piece of the immigration problem. And you know, there’s one big thing that you can do to help, and that is to keep your cable network from stoking the nativism that keeps...

End Birthright Citizenship Now by MARK KRIKORIAN March 17, 2015 President Obama has clinched the case for ending automatic citizenship for the U.S.-born children of illegal aliens, tourists, and foreign students. To the extent that supporters of our current practice have made any coherent arguments at all in response to claims that such children are “anchor babies,” they have noted — correctly — that having a U.S.-born child does not give parents any formal right to stay or work in the United States, so that the “anchor baby” label is inaccurate. They have claimed that automatic citizenship for children was...

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker made another massive misstep on Monday, hiring Liz Mair of Mair Strategies to handle communications and social media for his campaign-in-waiting. Mair’s support for amnesty for illegal aliens, wide-open-borders immigration policies, and public advocacy for the Senate “Gang of Eight” amnesty bill is sure to dog Walker in Iowa, South Carolina, and other early presidential states. During the Senate Gang of Eight bill fight, Mair very publicly and very aggressively promoted the amnesty bill—pushing it to media and making the case for the need for it over and over again. She claims her advocacy was done...

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, a Republican from
Texas, spoke with Boston Herald Radio’s Holly
Robichaud yesterday about his possible
presidential run: Q: Great job up in New Hampshire. Are they loving you out there? A: I’ll tell you that the reception we received in New Hampshire has really been breathtaking. We’ve had standing-room-only crowds. ... It has been really encouraging. There’s a lot of enthusiasm. People are hungry for a leader who is willing to tell the truth and stand up and do what he said he would do. Q: Here in Massachusetts there’s a lot of us worried about...

Governor moves toward conservatism before presidential campaign announcement.Gov. Scott Walker acknowledged his flip on immigration during an interview on Fox News Sunday this month – a move consistent with his shift toward being a model conservative. The reason behind the change is simple, experts say; Walker is interested in a 2016 presidential bid. Walker recently announced he now supports stricter border patrol and opposes “amnesty” programs which allow certain undocumented workers to stay in the United States. He previously supported creating a path toward citizenship for undocumented immigrants. According to University of Wisconsin political science professor Kenneth Mayer, Walker’s stance...

If President Barack Obama’s immigration plan gets past a federal court injunction and 60 percent of illegals apply for deferred action protection under the plan, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) agency projects that it may have to hire an additional 3,100 employees, with a total program cost of up to $484 million a year. In a detailed response to questions from Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee about the cost of processing the illegals at a newly rented facility in Arlington, Va., the USCIS said “planning was based on the assumption that 60 percent of all individuals who...
