n a Thursday briefing to county leaders, Sheriff Chuck Jenkins said a "full deployment of military resources" to the U.S.-Mexico border is needed to address the illegal-immigration issues he witnessed during his recent trip to Texas.[snip] "It's really, really hard to believe you're in America," Jenkins told Frederick County commissioners during Thursday's meeting. "You feel like you're in a combat zone." Jenkins spent about 20 minutes detailing his experience visiting McAllen, Texas, with several other sheriffs from around the nation. In the trip's aftermath, Jenkins said he and the other law enforcement leaders will formulate recommendations, which they hope the...

Not only have more unaccompanied children illegally crossed the southern border this year — more than twice last year's total — but they are crossing at much younger ages, according to a study released this week. There has been a 117% increase in apprehensions among unaccompanied children ages 12 and younger and a 12% increase among teenagers between the 2013 and 2014 fiscal years, according to government statistics obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request by the Pew Research Center. There are still more 13- to 17-year-olds crossing, 84% of youths apprehended. Most are 16- and 17-year-olds, Lopez said....

Organizations and human rights lawyers in the USA denounce abuses in deportation proceedings the authorities of that country have adopted as soon as possible to repatriate the undocumented who just crossed the border with Mexico, and fear that they have forced to sign voluntary departure without being heard by an immigration judge. "We are saying to the undocumented--which is a process where they will be detained for a long time and it's easier to go are forcing a resolution, "he said by telephone from USA, Meredith Brown, an expert on immigration issues, the Chamber of Attorneys of Los Angeles. Brown...

Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, who said that illegal immigration is an "act of love" that should not "rile" up Americans, now believes most of the illegal immigrant children from Central America should be sent back. But he also called for Congress to use the border crisis to pass comprehensive amnesty legislation. -snip- But he also urged Congress to "demonstrate leadership" on the border crisis by passing amnesty legislation. "Congress should not use the present crisis as an excuse to defer comprehensive immigration reform," Bush said. Bush, who has pushed amnesty legislation while considering a 2016 presidential run, called for...

LAWRENCEVILLE, Va. – It’s been five weeks since the meeting. The townspeople don’t need you to specify which meeting. There can only be one in which an outsider would be interested. The meeting during which the town of Lawrenceville in the county of Brunswick in the tobacco country of southern Virginia unequivocally rejected temporary housing for 500 Central American children seeking refuge. * In this largely African American community that prides itself on its hospitality, something was revealed that night: a full-throated, bared-teeth rage with which not everyone is comfortable or proud. “It made me think of the Civil Rights...

With no plans to secure the border, President Obama is considering executive action without Congress to grant Hondurans amnesty and to set up a program to screen "refugees" in the country before green lighting them into the United States, cutting out the process of trekking through Mexico. From the New York Times: The Obama administration is considering whether to allow hundreds of minors and young adults from Honduras into the United States without making the dangerous trek through Mexico, according to a draft of the proposal. If approved, the plan would direct the government to screen thousands of children and...

Did you know that the number of illegal immigrants that enter Texas each week is greater than the number of babies being born to citizens of that state? The mainstream media is shining the spotlight very brightly on all of the children that are coming over, and there is a reason for that. They are trying to tug on our heartstrings. But there is another part of the story that you aren't hearing much about. By refusing to protect our borders, Barack Obama has allowed hundreds of thousands of gang members to illegally enter the United States and settle in...

A foolproof plan to ease pressure on the border that’s currently being considered by the White House. Why force kids to make a dangerous trip through Mexico only to end up as illegal immigrants in the United States when we could go to them, grant them legal status, and send them north to America ourselves? It’s so crazy it just. might. work. Minor footnote: Federal law doesn’t allow refugee status to be granted for fear of street gangs, only for fear of racial/religious/political persecution, but oh well. Legal details never stopped Obama before. If approved, the plan would direct the...

The flood of children coming into the U.S. in the last several months is making national headlines. Nearly 60,000 unaccompanied children entered the U.S. illegally in the past year, most of them from Central America. Several states remain under consideration to house many of them, including Mississippi. (SNIP) He wrote President Obama about it, and explained “We simply do not have the resources, the location in which to house children who come here and do not speak our language, have no relatives in Mississippi.” Congressman Bennie Thompson also wrote the president, saying Bryant doesn’t speak for all Mississippians.

Gov. Rick Perry of Texas plans to order 1,000 National Guard troops to his state's border with Mexico in an effort to stem the tide of immigrants illegally entering from Central America, dispersing around the country once they've made it into Texas. Critics will call it a stunt and accuse Perry of showboating, but at least he is taking action, while President Obama, who took an oath to defend the country from all enemies foreign and domestic, drinks beer, plays pool and attends fundraisers as our borders are overrun. Enemies are more than adversary nations with weapons. An enemy can...

Immigration reform won’t happen this year, but ironically the border debacle may make immigration reform more likely in the near to mid-future. Even if the House wanted to, there is little time (a couple weeks now and a few in September) to get any major legislation done. Moreover, with the monkey off their back and the Democrats under fire for the border mess, Republicans will see less urgency to move forward. (SNIP) It’s no longer politically untenable to argue we should first do border security, then evaluate and then address legalization issues. In fact that seems to be the default...

This weekend, I had the opportunity to speak with a group of anti-amnesty protesters in Annapolis, Maryland. They were a small but very enthusiastic group and were grateful that I was there to provide a greater awareness for their cause. They protested at the intersection of West St. and Route 2 in Annapolis, a short drive from the governor’s mansion, where Martin O’Malley is seeking to bring illegal immigrant children, who crossed the southern border to Maryland. One of the ladies I spoke with was part of the “Free Republic” group. While they didn’t organize this particular protest, they...

I was recently visiting some extended family in South Carolina that's come around to support Tom Ravenel's Independent Conservative candidacy (my thoughts on that below), and got a look at yet another side of Grahamnesty's betrayal of the Constitution and conservative principles. It looks like Lindsey Graham is even worse than a RINO traitor who's willing to sell the country down the river for amnesty and the h1b visa, and he didn't back that traitorous immigration reform bill just for pats on the back from the Obama admin and Chamber of Commerce bribes-- he's also a compromised traitor. My extended...

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) wants Democrats to “use this crisis” on the border to pass comprehensive immigration legislation — just as immigration hawks fear they’ll do. “The most important thing that we can do to use this crisis as an opportunity is to pass comprehensive immigration reform,” Pelosi told reporters in Texas while discussing the border crisis. Of the House Republican Working Group’s proposal, she said she needed to see “what the amount is, hopefully with no offsets, hopefully with no language that changes immigration.”

Some of the immigrant children crossing the border say they are being subjected to abusive and inhumane treatment in U.S. Border Patrol stations in South Texas. This includes frigid holding rooms, sleep deprivation, verbal and psychological abuse, inadequate food and water, denial of medical care, and worse. Dozens of children have come forward to make complaints against Customs and Border Protection officers. The agency responds that any complaints are the result not of mistreatment, but of its stations being overwhelmed by the surge of minors.Inside 'Las Hieleras' The complaints center on what happens inside the group holding cells that immigrants...

Central American presidents sharply criticized Washington on Thursday for failing to address the root causes of violence and poverty in their countries that helped spur a recent influx of child migrants to the United States. “Washington must understand that if there exists drug violence in Central America, if there is no peace, if there is a lack of opportunity, this will redound to enormous costs to the United States,” Honduras’s Juan Orlando Hernández said during an appearance with Guatemala’s Otto Pérez Molina at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. The two leaders repeatedly described the situation as a “crisis”...
