Former Education Secretary Betsy DeVos says that the attack on the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, was the final straw for her in standing by former President Trump, confirming that she was open to using the 25th Amendment to remove him from office. DeVos, who writes in a new book about turning in her resignation letter to Trump the day after the Capitol insurrection, blames the former president’s refusal to accept the results of the 2020 presidential election for blocking her efforts to pass her last piece of school choice agenda legislation through Congress.

The Great Seal of Iowa boldly states:We prize our liberties and our rights we will maintain. The Iowa Great seal shows a citizen soldier with a musket. In spite of the sentiments on the seal, Iowa is one of only six states where the state constitution does not contain an explicit protection for the right to keep and bear arms. The seal was adopted in 1847. At the time, the right to bear arms was relatively uncontroversial. In the famous Dred Scott decision, Chief Justice Tanney said this, speaking of the rights slaves would have if they were considered to...

On Wednesday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “MTP Daily,” Senate Majority Whip Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) argued against voting on an amendment to the coronavirus spending bill on Title 42 by stating doing so would delay passage of the spending bill that he hopes “would have a sense of urgency and emergency” to it. Host Chuck Todd asked, “COVID relief funding is something that’s needed. I know you’re going to say they’re playing politics here, you know there are some Democratic votes for this. Why not include the amendment on Title 42, what’s the downside?”

Amendments by Acclamation: Democrats Move to Simply Declare the Equal Rights Amendment as RatifiedBelow is my column in the Hill on the Democratic campaign to simply declare the Equal Rights Amendment ratified as the 28th Amendment to the Constitution. The question is whether raw politics is enough to shock the unratified and undead into life. Here is the column:Madison, Jefferson, Adams, Franklin: The names of great constitutional figures are etched in the minds of every schoolchild. But soon, if Democrats in Congress have their way, they will add one more: David Ferriero.Who is David Ferriero, you ask? He is 10th Archivist...

Texas Democratic gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke appeared to back off his 2019 statement that "hell yes" he intends to take guns away from citizens if elected to office. The Senate on Thursday blocked an amendment to a stop-gap funding bill that would defund President Joe Biden’s vaccine mandate. The Senate voted 48-50, just a few votes short of the 51-vote majority necessary to pass the Marshall-Lee amendment to H.R. 6119, the continuing resolution (CR). The Marshall-Lee proposal would have defunded Biden’s vaccine mandate. The CR would fund the government through February 18.

As Kyle Rittenhouse was acquitted in two killings that he said were self-defense, armed civilians patrolled the streets near the Wisconsin courthouse with guns in plain view. In Georgia, testimony in the trial of Ahmaud Arbery’s killers showed that armed patrols were commonplace in the neighborhood where Arbery, a 25-year-old Black man, was chased down by three white men and shot. The two proceedings sent startling new signals about the boundaries of self-defense as more guns emerge from homes amid political and racial tensions and the advance of laws that ease permitting requirements and expand the allowable use of force....

ABC legal analyst Sunny Hostin said Friday on ABC’s “The View” she believed that the Second Amendment “was designed to protect slavery” by empowering local militia groups to “put down slave revolts.” Hostin said, “If you look at the history of the NRA for decades, the NRA has pushed legislation that not only supported a lot of gun ownership and the proliferation of guns but stifled the study and spread of information right, about the causes of gun violence. And when we talk about the culture of guns in this country, I’m reading an incredible book called ‘The Second’ by...

The U.S. Supreme Court said Monday it will consider how much protection the Second Amendment provides for carrying a gun outside the home. The case will mark the first time in more than a decade that the court agreed to take up a central issue of the gun rights debate, something it has consistently ducked since issuing a landmark ruling in District of Columbia v. Heller in 2008 that the Second Amendment provides an individual right to keep a handgun at home for self defense. The court agreed to hear a challenge to a New York state law that allows...

During a Friday appearance on “The Hugh Hewitt Show,” Sen. Sasse said Trump “incited” the mob at his rally by telling them to “go wild.” He told host Hugh Hewitt that Trump is “addicted” to division and lies.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) weighed in on invoking the 25th Amendment against President Donald Trump Thursday, saying he does not think it is “appropriate” at this point but did not rule it out for future incidents. “As to the 25th Amendment being invoked, I do not believe that’s appropriate at this point,” Graham said in a video statement. “I’m looking for a peaceful transfer of power, I’m looking for the next 14 days to reset, and we will hand off power in a traditional sense.”

If the Biden/Harris regime takes over, they have repeatedly said they will go after the 2nd Amendment. Will they send law enforcement to people's home to confiscate guns, perhaps, will they directly ban so called "assault weapons", perhaps, but this video explains how I think the 2nd Amendment will be attacked.. Remember Sandy Hook and mentally deranged person using a Bushmaster AR-15 manufactured by Remington killed numerous children ?? A lawsuit was filed by the victims blaming Remington, that lawsuit was allowed to proceed against Remington and ultimately help cause their bankruptcy... Now this case, Cabela's is getting sued and...

The US Constitution provides instructions for how to remove a President from office if they are unfit to do their job -- gravely wounded, for example, or mentally unstable. The process could also be used if the President is incapacitated, for example if they were sedated and on a ventilator. The instructions were ratified as an amendment in 1967, after John F. Kennedy’s assassination. Until that point, the Constitution just vaguely referred http://constitutionus.com/ to the fact that a President could be removed for “Inability to discharge the Powers and Duties of said Office.” When can the 25th amendment be invoked...

North Dakota has joined 26 other states in passing a resolution calling for a balanced budget amendment to the U.S. Constitution, though some Republican lawmakers feel it doesn’t go far enough to rein in Congress and other branches of the federal government. The state Senate passed a resolution Tuesday asking Congress to call a convention for the sole purpose of proposing an amendment requiring a balanced federal budget. “If we want fiscal discipline in Washington, D.C., it has to come from the states. We have to be bold in our approach to them,” said Sen. Dick Dever, R-Bismarck, a sponsor...

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg said Monday the U.S. still needs an Equal Rights Amendment, days before the House is set to decide whether to remove the deadline to ratify the amendment. Ginsburg spoke at a Georgetown Law School event Monday almost 100 years after women voted in their first presidential election. The justice mentioned how the National Women’s Party viewed the 19th Amendment that gave women the right to vote as “the beginning” after courts interpreted the amendment to only apply to voting rights. “Their idea was the 19th Amendment was the beginning, but women should have equality...
