Miners in northwestern Canada have discovered ice age camel bones whose DNA is forcing scientists to redraw the family tree of the now-extinct species. Grant Zazula, a paleontologist with the Yukon's Department of Tourism and Culture, said three fossils recovered from a gold mine in the Klondike in 2008 are the first western camel bones found in the territory or Alaska in decades. Scientists had believed western camels that once lived in North America were related to llamas and alpacas common to South America, but they now have genetic proof that the animals are more closely tied to the camels...

I left the Space Program as a contractor back in 2009, my wife and I have been raising Alpacas on our farm though since 2005. My wife is big into the Social Networking thing especially Facebook and various Yahoo Groups. Last night she was reading a very interesting post from a Fellow Alpaca Rancher in the South. He stated that he was getting multiple phone calls from Chinese students at a nearby university asking about the Alpacas and how easy they were to raise, The fiber products made from them, etc. He then stated that he was now having carloads...

A COUPLE who had dreamed of farming alpacas near North Nibley have been told they have nine months to find somewhere else to live. Emma and Rodney Bird, of Bird Farm Stancombe, have had their dreams shattered after their appeal against Stroud District Council’s decision to refuse them permission to live on their alpaca farm failed. The couple’s second appeal against an enforcement notice issued by the district council for placing a caravan on site without planning permission was also unsuccessful. Mrs Bird said: "It has been a bitter blow for us to lose our appeal to live onsite with...

End Of Road For GOTMILF License Plate"Offensive" vanity tag yanked by Washington officials JULY 21--This is the story of GOTMILF. In May 2002, Michael Syravong filed a "personalized license plate application"with Washington's Department of Licensing. GOTMILF was Syravong's first choice among the three possible personalized tags he listed on the state form (he would have settled for SUPL8EZ or RCKSTAR). Asked for the meaning of GOTMILF, Syravong wrote, "Manual Inline Lift Fluctuator," which he would later claim was some kind of automotive gizmo. The 25-year-old software engineer's license plate choice was, amazingly, approved by bureaucrats who obviously never saw the...
