Using data from the Vaccine Allocation Planner tool by Ariadne Labs and the Surgo Foundation, ABC News created a questionnaire that helps people find out where they stand in the vaccine line. The tool asks users to enter which state and county they live in, their age, job and whether they have any pre-existing conditions. Once that’s done, it calculates approximately how many people in that area are set to get vaccinated ahead of the user, as well as how many Americans are in their priority group.
  • Republican Delegate Allocation Rules by State (2016)

... Convention: State will bind delegates to the national convention at a state/territory convention. Other conventions will leave the delegation unbound. Proportional: State will proportionally allocated delegates based either on the statewide primary/caucus vote or on the combination of the statewide and congressional district votes. Proportional with Trigger: State will follow above proportional rules but allows for a winner-take-all allocation if a candidate wins a majority of the vote statewide or at the congressional district level. Hybrid: State will follow some form of winner-take-more plan (i.e.: winner-take-all by congressional district) or directly elects delegates on the primary ballot. Winner-take-all: State...
  • Obama used party rules to foil Clinton

WASHINGTON (AP) — Unlike Hillary Rodham Clinton, rival Barack Obama planned for the long haul. Clinton hinged her whole campaign on an early knockout blow on Super Tuesday, while Obama's staff researched congressional districts in states with primaries that were months away. What they found were opportunities to win delegates, even in states they would eventually lose. Obama's campaign mastered some of the most arcane rules in politics, and then used them to foil a front-runner who seemed to have every advantage — money, fame and a husband who had essentially run the Democratic Party for eight years as...

SACRAMENTO – From Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders, politicians at all levels are complaining about a transportation commission staff proposal to allocate the first highway funds from a record $19.9 billion transportation bond approved by voters in November. As a result, the California Transportation Commission may make major changes in the staff recommendation before making a decision next Wednesday to allocate $4.5 billion in bond funds designated for highways to improve “corridor mobility.” The harshest criticism came from Assembly Speaker Fabian Núñez, D-Los Angeles, who said the staff plan would give Los Angeles County only 12...
  • California schools get first allocation from voter-approved bonds (Prop 1D)

State officials Wednesday spent the first of the record $42.7 billion in bond funds voters approved in November. The State Allocation Board authorized more than $300 million to upgrade classrooms in 192 school districts. The projects had been approved last year but were on hold because the state had run out of money to modernize classrooms shortly before voters approved the $10.4 billion education bond, Proposition 1D. "With this money, we are taking action to renovate schools that need it most," Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said in a statement. Proposition 1D was part of a $37.3 billion public works package that...

The world's future wars will be fought not over oil but water: an ominous prediction made by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), the British ministry of defence and even by some officials of the World Bank. But experts and academics meeting at an international conference on water management in the Swedish capital are dismissing this prediction as unrealistic, far-fetched and nonsensical."Water wars make good newspaper headlines but cooperation (agreements) don't," says Arunabha Ghosh, co-author of the upcoming Human Development Report 2006 themed on water management. The annual report, commissioned by the U.N. Development Programme (UNDP), is to be released...
