In recent days, pro-al Qaeda jihadists claimed to confirm a recent news report saying that several senior al Qaeda leaders have been released from Iranian custody. Sky News reported earlier this week that five veteran jihadists were released in exchange for an Iranian diplomat who had been kidnapped in Yemen. Several jihadists on Twitter who are connected to al Qaeda have said the report is accurate. One of them is known as “Al Siyasi al Mutaqa’id,” who has relayed accurate information on al Qaeda in the past. The five jihadists who were reportedly freed are: Saif al Adel, Abu Mohammed...

Osama bin Laden´s son-in-law has been captured and is in the hands of the U.S. Department of Justice and the FBI, two administration officials said on Thursday. Sulaiman Abu Ghaith, was captured within the last week in Jordan, according to a spokesman for U.S. Rep. Peter King of New York. Osama bin Laden's son-in-law is being held in a super-secret 'terror wing' of a fortress-like federal prison that has housed some of the most notorious criminals of recent memory. Sulaiman Abu Ghaith, who pleaded not guilty Friday to charges of conspiring to kill Americans on 9/11, is in a cell that's eight feet by 12 feet inside the Metropolitan Correctional Center. He's locked up just blocks from the former site of the World Trade Center where nearly 3,000 people were killed on 9/11. The grim MCC is a mini Guantanamo Bay where prisoners are locked up for 22 hours a...

Note: Photos included. SNIPPET: "Iran has allowed an al Qaeda terrorist who served as Osama bin Laden’s spokesman to return to Afghanistan. Sulaiman Abu Ghaith, a Kuwaiti preacher who gained worldwide infamy after the September 11 attacks, had lived in Iran since early 2002, and was reportedly held under a loose form of house arrest beginning in 2003. Abu Ghaith’s departure from Iran was first reported by the Kuwaiti press, which has long tracked the influential cleric because of his following inside Kuwait and beyond. The preacher was stripped of his Kuwaiti citizenship in late 2001 after promising another al...

Iran claims it has foiled al-Qaeda strike plans PARISA HAFEZI IRAN has foiled a number of attacks which al-Qaeda had been planning to carry out on its soil, a senior government official has claimed. "Their [al-Qaeda’s] plans for a wide range of terrorist acts inside Iran were neutralised by our intelligence organisations," the Iranian news agency, IRNA, quoted Hassan Rohani, the secretary general of the Supreme National Security Council, as saying. Mr Rohani gave no details of the planned attacks or whether any al-Qaeda members linked to them were arrested. Although a staunch political enemy of Washington, Iran condemned the...
  • Milan cell linked to al-Qaida operatives

MILAN, Italy — Italian anti-terrorism investigators, poring over hundreds of hours of surreptitiously recorded conversations among members of Europe's most important al-Qaida outpost, say they are convinced a cell in Milan supplied false passports and other bogus documents to al-Qaida operatives who may have succeeded in entering the United States. The absence of any apparent contact between the Milan al-Qaida operation and the Sept. 11 hijackers, who spawned their deadly plot in Hamburg, Germany, could mean that other potential al-Qaida terrorists managed to take up residence in the United States before Sept. 11 and may still be there awaiting a...
