In Michigan, two Cane Corsos, a large breed descended from Roman war dogs, attacked a jogger. A neighbor saw that the jogger was down with the dogs attacking him. He defended the attacked man with a .44 magnum, firing two shots, one in the air, the other at one of the dogs, grazing it. That stopped the attack. Later one of the dogs tried to return to the attack, but left when it saw the man with the gun.
