Second Amendment: The administration's choice to be the nation's doctor in chief views gun ownership as a public health issue and not a constitutional right, and wants doctors to query patients about guns in their home.... ....gun-grabbing advocate Dr. Vivek Hallegere Murthy, Obama's nominee to be U.S. Surgeon General. Murthy is the 36-year-old president and co-founder of the anti-gun group Doctors for America, which advocates ObamaCare and gun control laws. His group, which has been dubbed "Docs vs. Glocks," has pushed Congress to ban "assault" weapons and "high-capacity" magazines.

I just wrote an article which is a companion piece to one I did last year on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the role of gun ownership in the civil rights movement. I found more archival material that was fascinating, along with a couple of excellent video clips - one from the National Black Chamber of Commerce and another one with Otis McDonald, the McDonald of the landmark recent SCOTUS ruling McDonald vs Chicago speaking to a sympathetic Black member of the Illinois State Legislature. I'm providing a link to the full article. I know the usual marginal complainers...

MILFORD >> Residents with a collage of questions and suggestions made their way to the microphone held by Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman at a town hall event in Milford. Gov. Dannel P. Malloy stood at the lectern in City Hall Wednesday to answer as many questions he could in an hour — or directed people to the right staff member to contact to follow up.

Now that tens of thousands of gun owners in Connecticut are in direct violation of a hastily-passed gun control law, a video of a fed-up Navy veteran warning lawmakers that he “will not comply” with the law is just going viral. As previously reported by TheBlaze, as many as 100,000 gun owners technically became felons overnight because they chose not to register their semi-automatic rifles and/or high-capacity magazines. A man, identified as John S. Cinque, reportedly appeared at a public meeting in North Haven, Conn., on April 22, 2013, to confront lawmakers over the gun control law. Cinque started by...

BUFFALO, NY—Sometimes it’s just fun to see someone who speaks out of both sides of their mouth get into trouble for it. Actually, it’s always fun to see. So, when gun control advocate Dwayne Ferguson was arrested by police for carrying a loaded pistol into Harvey Austin Elementary School, it’s easy to feel smug about it. At 4:15 p.m. on Thursday, local police got a number of anonymous tips that a black male had just been seen walking into the elementary school carrying a pistol. Within minutes of the calls, the school had been placed on lock-down, surrounding streets had...

"The odds are, and it gives me no particular satisfaction to say it, is that someone is going to get killed over your unconstitutional misadventures in Connecticut. And if not Connecticut, then New York, or Maryland, or California or Colorado. And once the civil war you all apparently seek is kicked off, it would not be -- it could not be -- confined to one state."

Today is the feast of St. Gabriel of Our Lady of Sorrows, Gabriel Possenti, according to the calendar of the Novus Ordo. In the older, traditional Missal we find that 28 February was given to him. His date is most properly 27 February since that is the day he died and was born into heaven in 1862. I visited his shrine beneath the great mountain Gran Sasso in Italy while I was in seminary.Little Francesco Possenti came from a large family, 13 children, in Spoleto and was baptized in the same baptismal font as St. Francis of Assisi.During a childhood illness...

Joseph Stalin’s firearms confiscation was a tremendous success for the Socialist state.Under the Tsar, Russia was one of the most heavily armed societies on earth. That all changed when Stalin and the communists took control. Stalin was able to control, starve, punish and imprison a defenseless people… after he took their guns. (Zinnfigur) Ukrainian citizens and gun owners are demanding their own Second Amendment in the country’s constitution. Doug Ross reported: The Ukraine Gun Owners Association wants the new government to add their own right to bear arms to the country’s constitution. As of today Ukrainian Gun Owners Association will...

My Clif-Notes version first: 2nd (second) Amendment & See Article I, Section 8, paragraph 11 and the founders had both weapons of MASS DESTRUCTION (canons) and equal to today 2014, A-K 47’s FULLY AUTO in their personal possession, i.e., their superior hunting rifle’s. Although not FULLY AUTO, they did have in their possession the MOST ADVANCE[D] RIFLE’S of the time 1775-6. Oh, and those ADVANCE[D] RIFLE’S were used for hunting, both duck’s & British.

Illicitly ‘homemade’ submachine guns feature very prominently in firearms seizures by police across South America, Brazil in particular. These weapons vary in their level of sophistication though a large number appear to be semi-professionally produced. In a recent study of over 14,488 firearms seized between 2011 and 2012 in Sao Paulo alone, 48% of submachine guns analyzed were reportedly homemade. Given the decent quality of many SMG clones, even that high statistic is probably significantly under reported. The most frequently seized design for some time would appear to the be the model below. A workshop producing a variation among other...

Gun confiscations is one step closer in Connecticut. The mainstream media spins it as “one more chance” for non-compliant gun owners who failed to register their scary guns before the January 1 deadline. In reality, these letters - 106 to rifle owners, and 108 more to residents with standard capacity magazines – are the first step in the Connecticut State Police beginning to round up guns arbitrarily made illegal last year in that state. These guns include America’s favorite rifle, the AR-15 and magazines over 10 rounds, which include the standard capacity magazines made for that America’s favorite rifle. Failure...

Ares Armor is a small tactical company that operates a store in National City, California. Recently the town of National City disapproved of a sign displayed at the National City store location and told the store, "Take down the sign or go to jail. We do not approve of guns...or you." The store has been in compliance with the law and was not doing anything illegal. So why is there a fuss? It's because of the guns and the message of freedom being promoted by Ares Armor. Dimitri Karces is a Marine veteran of both Iraq and Afghanistan and CEO...

November will be here sooner than the Democrat and the Republican establishments would like to think. We must prepare for a battle to save America and the enemies of freedom know it. To focus ourselves and prepare we have to hold a number of their assaults on our freedoms up to the light and ask why they have been allowed to continue. Here are just a few questions we must ask and demand an answer to. Why are our children’s futures being drained away by elected officials of both parties? Why has it become acceptable to be forced to pay...

In NY State, this mom would be a criminal and facing jail time because of cosmetic features on the rifle.I saw the videotape below at Ace of Spades HQ, as well as at Hot Air, regarding a Detroit mother at home with her children when three men, at least one of whom was armed with a handgun, attempted to kick open the front back door. Fearing for her safety and that of her children, this mother used a rifle in self-defense. She didn’t hit any of the intruders, but it was enough to scare them off initially, and again when...

Former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens has released a new book focused, in part, on "improving" the Constitution through amending the Second Amendment--by making the rights protected therein applicable only to a militia instead of the citizenry at large. Stevens' book is titled Six Amendments: How and Why We Should Change the Constitution. As written, the text of the Second Amendment is: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed." According to Bloomberg Businessweek, Stevens believes recent court decisions--notably District...

Last week, in a 2-1 decision, the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals overturned a restriction on carrying concealed handguns. The court held that carrying a handgun “outside the home for the lawful purpose of self-defense, though subject to traditional restrictions, constitutes ‘bear[ing] Arms’ within the meaning of the Second Amendment.” The question of whether the Second Amendment right to bear arms extends to the public is contentious. The 7th Circuit agrees with the 9th Circuit that carrying a gun outside the home is protected by the Constitution, but other courts (the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Circuits) are unsettled on...

Unarmed citizens in Ukraine taking sniper fire from their own government. Sadly, they aren't allowed to own guns like we are. And people here wonder why we value our Second Amendment? (Taken from Guns Across America on facebook)

Pro-gun advocates will likely be relieved that John Paul Stevens, 93, is now retired and no longer serving as a member of the Supreme Court. In his upcoming book, “Six Amendments: How and Why We Should Change the Constitution,” he argues for a slight change to the Second Amendment that would fundamentally alter its meaning. As written by the Founding Fathers in the U.S. Constitution, the Second Amendment reads: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed. Stevens argues that the...

Dear Supervisors: On Thursday February 13, 2014, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals issued an opinion in the case of Peruta, et.al v. County of San Diego, et.al concluding that the State of California's requirement of "good cause," in cases where an applicant wants a firearm for personal protection, impermissibly infringes on the Second Amendment right to bear arms in lawful self-defense. In its opinion, the Ninth Circuit defined the issue on appeal as "whether a responsible, law-abiding citizen has a right under the Second Amendment to carry a firearm in public for self-defense." In so doing, the Ninth Circuit...

SPRINGFIELD, MASS. - After nearly 10-hours of coaching me through my first International Defensive Pistol Association Nationals, world shooting champion and Smith & Wesson Team Captain Julie Golob left the range with a smile on her face, and I did too. My first shooting competition was an overwhelming success. I shot pretty well for my first go-round, but more importantly, I got to spend time with incredibly special people who really care about sharing their sport. The match Wednesday morning started early with registration at 7 a.m. All I had to do was show up with my ammo, eyes, ears...
