Just as there is a long-term benefit in positive authenticity polling, there is a long-term detriment in negative authenticity polling. Opinions of “authenticity” are almost impossible to change once they embed. The word ‘almost’ is an understatement, because no politician in modern times has ever been able to reverse the authenticity component.
