In some sense, there’s nothing remotely funny about the IRS’s targeting of Tea Party organizations. It is disgusting that a powerful arm of the government became a corrupt vehicle for illegal partisan politics. Beau Bergdahl has been returned to “active duty.” Apparently, that means a desk job while the Army considers what should be done with this young enlisted soldier. Bergdahl was held for five years by the Taliban since walking away from his post one night in 2009. President Obama greeted Bergdahl’s relieved parents in Rose Garden at the White House in a move widely criticized. Perhaps the most insane theory seen to date regarding Bowe Bergdahl was posited on Twitter yesterday by Brandon Friedman, the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs at the U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development. Friedman suggested that perhaps Bergdahl is not a deserter who may have actually aided the Taliban, but instead, was attempting to flee from a platoon full of "psychopaths."
