Then is there is 'Test Week', during which applicants are subjected to increasingly gruelling marches. The final one, called 'Endurance', is 40 miles long and must be completed without any breaks. Troops carry a 60lb bag, a rifle and a full water bottle - and are timed.

Small 'changes' for women include the following:

"Endurance" for women will be a 4 miles long march with 2 breaks. Women will carry a 6 lb purse, a small plastic water gun, and sparking water in a reusable environmentally safe container.
