It's not a secret. Steven Nardizzi, CEO and Executive Director pulls $311,538 a year. This sort of thing drives me crazy. I can't believe that there's no qualified retired general or admiral who couldn't run the organization at 1/3 of that salary. Heck, even $100,000 a year is a lot of money.

I don’t like the numbers either as I don’t think anyone should be getting rich off of the backs of wounded vets. But there is a larger picture here. Employing its business model of increased spending on high profile advertising the organization has increased the amount it provides to vets. I don’t give to them, and I’m not intending to defend them. But that deserves mentioning.

Steven Nardizzi is co-founder of the organization and he is getting rich. I don’t care for that so I don’t give them my money.

IIRC, when Elizabeth Dole was prez of the Red Cross, she was earning a $600,000 annual salary -- and that was about 25 years ago.
NYT ran an article about her returning the to RC after hubby lost the 1996 election. They said she returned to the "Red Cross, where her salary was more than $200,000 a year." They don't say how much more.
