But why are Florida roads so bad?

The freeze/thaw cycle in Northern States every year really tears up the roads, so it makes sense many Northern states would have bad roads, but Florida doesn’t have that to deal with, and it’s flat, the roads should last a real long time with little maintenance.

I will disagree with New Jersey being so high, their roads relatively speaking aren’t that bad.

Drive in Pennsylvania or New York, and you notice a big improvement in the quality of roads when you cross over back into New Jersey.

The better quality of roads is one of the reasons New Jersey drivers generally drive much faster than those in the surrounding states,
