We don't have "plenty" of oil.
United States Oil Production peaked way back in 1970.
And now we're suffering an anemic economy due to excessive hemorrhaging of money spent on foreign oil.

"Drill Baby Drill" isn't enough.
We need to reduce our consumption as well.
And convert to alternate sources of energy like nuclear power.

Detroit is a dismal, crappy, rundown city... no doubt about it.

In the mean time, they have to do whatever they can to rehab the crappy slums themselves.
If building a light rail along Woodward helps provide urban developers a corridor to coordinate their meager private urban investment, then good for Detroit. The entire city is a vast wasteland. Woodward would be a good spot to clear the rubble for redevelopment. At least the right-of-way acquisition will be dirt cheap. LOL!

Maybe because I believe that our nation's policies and future must be determined by peaceful, democratic processes and not the harsh, laissez-faire, sociopathic brutality of economies of scale.
