Russia's armed forces suffered a new blow today when its air defences shot down one of its own military helicopters near the war zone. The latest friendly fire nightmare resulted in the death of all four crew members, it was reported. The £19 million Ka-29 assault helicopter was on duty hunting for Ukrainian kamikaze sea drones near Black Sea resort Anapa this morning when it was hit by a Russian Pantsir medium-range surface-to-air missile in an incident of mistaken targeting. The Russians blamed the blunder on a malfunction of the 'friend or foe' identification system.

INCREDIBLE footage shows Ukraine's sea drones nip out of the way of Russian fire during an overnight blitz in occupied Crimea. Meanwhile Kyiv's forces launched missiles towards Vlad's beloved Kerch Bridge - reportedly sparking some 20 explosions and damaging two ships. Dramatic video shows the drones flying over water in Uzkaya Bay, western Crimea. Kyiv's forces dodge the Russian barrage of explosions raining down around them. The Magura V5 marine drones managed to hit two Russian high speed KS-701 Tunets [Tuna] vessels - despite the onslaught. The Tuna boats are used by Russian forces for patrolling as well as transport...

SUMMARY Around 137 Russian helicopters have been confirmed lost in the Ukrainian war. The upper bound of Russian helicopter losses claimed by Ukraine is 325; the lower bound of visually confirmed losses is 105. Russia has lost around 10% of its helicopter fleet, mostly attack helicopters like the Ka-52 "Alligator." The fog of war and exaggerated claims on both sides make it difficult to know exactly how much military equipment has been lost during the Full-Scale Russian Invasion of Ukraine. However, today is the information age and this war is being filmed like never before. Over a hundred fixed-wing Russian...

In a gesture of support for Ukraine, Argentina has donated two Mi-171E multipurpose helicopters to the country, originally acquired from Russia, as reported by the Financial Times on February 29. The decision for the transfer was personally endorsed by Argentinian President Javier Milei. President Milei, who has expressed a preference for fostering relationships with nations that prioritize freedom, such as the United States, Israel, and Ukraine, has made a significant move by donating these military helicopters, which were initially manufactured in Russia. The specifics of the agreement between Argentina and Ukraine were not made public.

Ukrainian forces destroyed 26 Russian helicopters in a single day using an unknown long-range weapon supplied by Kyiv's allies, Volodymyr Zelensky has claimed. During a press conference with journalists in Latvia on Thursday, the Ukrainian president remained light on details when discussing the use of the mystery weapon, not disclosing which country had provided the system, how long it had been in operation or when it had been used against the helicopters. "Partners have provided us with some long-range weapons," he said, according to a translation by Ukrainian news outlet RBC. "I won't say what, but our partners will understand....

According to a British assessment, successful Ukrainian attacks on Russian helicopter bases in Ukraine represent a significant blow to the Russian occupiers, as reported by the German news website n-tv.de. The UK Ministry of Defence reports that Berdyansk in the south of Ukraine, where presumably nine attack helicopters were destroyed, served as an important base for the Russians for their operations along the southern front. “If confirmed, these losses are likely to impact Russia’s ability to defend this axis and conduct further offensive activities.” In the attacks on October 17, Russia apparently also lost five helicopters in Luhansk in eastern...

Ukraine's armed forces are gaining ground and pressing ahead with counteroffensive operations, but the Russians are putting up a fight and deploying aviation assets to the front lines in ways they haven't been until recently to blunt Ukrainian efforts to retake captured territory.Ukrainian forces are pushing beyond the protection of some of their fixed air defenses without the kind of mobile air defenses they really need, and Russian attack helicopters, like the Ka-52 Alligators able to do damage with its 30mm cannon or anti-tank missiles, are emerging as a threat to Ukraine's ground forces that must be quickly engaged with...

Battered in the opening phases of the Ukraine war, Russia’s attack helicopter fleet now sports new technology and tactics to blunt Ukraine’s ongoing offensive. This month, Eurasian Times claimed that a Russian Ka-52 attack helicopter with the Vitebsk-25 countermeasures suite recently evaded 18 missiles while on a combat mission in Ukraine, jamming the missiles, completing its mission, and returning to base unharmed. Eurasian Times states that Vitebsk-25 consists of an infrared (IR) missile tracker and laser countermeasures, augmented by a flare dispenser to blind IR missiles. It also says the system can detect and jam threats across 120 degrees azimuth...

Russia is using attack helicopters equipped with long-range missiles to gain an upper hand on the key southern front of the Ukrainian counter-offensive, according to Britain’s Ministry of Defence (MoD).Moscow has deployed more than 20 extra helicopters to Berdyansk airport, which lies approximately 100km behind the front line, since Kyiv launched its offensive earlier this month, the ministry said in an intelligence update.“In the constant contest between aviation measures and counter-measures, it is likely that Russia has gained a temporary advantage in southern Ukraine, especially with attack helicopters employing longer-range missiles against ground targets,” said the MoD.It indicated earlier in...

(CNN) The horizon disappears for a moment as the nose of the helicopter rears. There's a faint thump as rockets trailing brown smoke arc ahead. The aircraft banks as if flicked on its side by an outside force. Diving back towards to the ground it spurts flares from its tail to distract heat-seeking missiles. Somewhere in the battle for the eastern Ukrainian town of Bakhmut, Russian soldiers are being torn apart, and burned, as the ground itself erupts when the rockets find their target. There's no time to reflect -- the effect of the rockets will get passed back to...

The Federal Government has announced a plan to begin shooting feral cattle from helicopters in order to protect the environment. ... Local ranchers, however, have criticized the plan as cruel and have warned about the unintended consequences ... They say it sets a dangerous precedent, as more and more ranching plots are left vacant across the West and fences become untended. They claim that this could result in privately owned cattle wandering off and getting caught up in the mix. ... ranchers are also worried that the wolves who eat the carcasses of the dead animals will become used to...

San Diego Police confirmed to ABC 10News the situation was part of a “pre-planned military exercise.” “The house was literally vibrating with it … it was scary! I immediately thought there’s something really serious going on in the neighborhood,” said Point Loma resident Martha Pistacchi. Residents say living in this area, they’re used to frequent aircraft overhead. Note that it wasn’t just Point Loma where this exercise took place: ‘The helicopters were seen in other nearby neighborhoods on Tuesday.‘ “But this...
