TV shows like Yellowstone and Longmire and stars like Beyonce have helped to make cowboy fashion popular again. That's good for Wyoming stores as tourists are spending big money on hats, art and all things western. Steam flies at a busy Kemo Sabe store in Jackson, where workers are putting the right shape on hats for waiting customers. (Renee Jean, Cowboy State Daily) JACKSON — Mary Sullivan of Colorado says she’s not normally one to “pull the trigger” on an ultra-expensive cowboy hat, but last weekend she was one of dozens of customers swarming the Western-chic Kemo Sabe hat shop....

(NewsNation) — The fashion industry (companies that construct clothing or make the materials for clothing) accounts for up to 4% of global climate emissions and an unknown but large percentage of worldwide water pollution. “Natural” materials like cotton and leather have huge impacts on the environment and humans. Cotton relies on pesticides, and in many parts of the world it’s harvested by children and forced laborers. Animal leather means raising cattle in ways that often lead to deforestation, water pollution and increased carbon emissions.

Glamor. Style. Class. These are the words we associate with America’s First Ladies. From Martha Washington and Abigail Adams to Barbara Bush and Melania Trump, the White House has always been enhanced with chic, colorful styles. In the 1960s, Jackie Onassis became an international fashion icon for her love of European designers Chanel and Givenchy, which she famously pimped with oversized sunglasses and pillbox hats. After that, Betty Ford’s tailored chic saw her wear wide-leg trousers with beautiful blazers, walking a tasteful life through the mid-seventies. The following decade, Nancy Reagan embodied 80s power-dressing with red, white, and blue creations...

While Jeff Bezos, 60, was supposed to be front and center at the event, all eyes were instead on his soon-to-be wife due to her saucy ensemble, which was a waist-cinching, fiery red $2,200 Rasario gown with a very low-cut neckline and sleeves that hung off her shoulders. She put her enviable curves on full display in the risque number while attending the event hosted by President Joe Biden in honor of Japan's Prime Minister Fumio Kishid on Wednesday evening. And while the former TV reporter, 54, turned heads in the show-stopping gown, people on the web flooded social media...

Models pelted with garbage during fashion show to simulate online hate and 'verbal brutality'

A Milan fashion show featured clothing models having trash — including food and drinks — thrown at them by audience members in an effort by the designer to simulate online commentary. Designer Beate Karlsson created the new, garbage-covered line for Avavav, for which she is the creative director. The company describes itself as an independent fashion house "striving for creative freedom, driven by humor, entertainment and design evolution." Creative freedom might be an understatement for Karlsson's recent show during Milan Fashion Week, where models had drinks, discarded food wrappers, and other garbage thrown at them on the runway. The performance...

A transgender model is suing his New York-based modeling agency for discrimination, claiming it killed his career after he transitioned and branded him “insufficiently masculine” to work in men’s fashion. Frances Coombe, 30, who is a Canadian catwalk model, filed a federal lawsuit Tuesday, claiming Muse Model Management NYC and its president Conor Kennedy had violated his civil rights protecting gender identity. Coombe is requesting more than $300,000 in lost income and is seeking damages for emotional distress over the downfall of his reputation and career, the lawsuit said. “It is no surprise that models evolve their looks, and I...

House arrest didn’t deter Anna Delvey from getting involved in fashion week. The convicted felon cohosted a fashion show Monday night at her East Village apartment building for the designer Shao Yang. About 75 people trooped up the five flights to cram into the black plastic card chairs on the rooftop. Dozens more waited outside in a zigzag line on the sidewalk, giving the gathering a decidedly ’90s feel. The show took place with ominous clouds overhead, a warbly sound system and the glittering downtown skyscape—with the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building and other landmarks festooned in blue light...

Ah, the elitists at the World Economic Forum are at it again, telling Americans what they can eat and what they can wear. The official song of Klaus Schwab and the World Economic Forum is “Tomorrow Belongs To Me!” The World Economic Forum has declared that by 2030 fashion will become completely obsolete and all humans will be vegan, whether they like it or not. Despite the fact that NASA has admitted that global warming is due to earth’s proximity to the sun in its elipse, not due to carbon emissions. But hell, there is no money in that. But...

D’Antuono’s testimony ‘only reinforces our grave concerns that your reported actions are nothing more than a politically motivated prosecution.’ The high-level FBI official tasked with executing the raid on former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home last year said President Joe Biden’s Department of Justice breached protocol to justify the search proving that the FBI learned nothing from their attempts to undermine the Republican leader during the Russian collusion hoax. Less than one day after Special Counsel Jack Smith charged Trump with 38 counts related to his retention of government documents, House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan unveiled the damning testimony of...

I was in a medical waiting room giving someone a ride home after their treatment the other day reading the biography of Walter Cronkite by Douglas Brinkley. I looked up as Hoda Kotb and other female cast members of "Today" discussed the new breast cancer screening recommendations. No mention of all the sexual activity causing it or perhaps the need for more medical industry profits? But regardless it was ironic to notice the cleavage emanating from Hoda and the other ladies. I went back to the book. But I got a reminder of the legacy of Fox News and its...

Former Vice President Mike Pence is poised to seek the Republican nomination for president in 2024 and will formally announce his candidacy in June according to a report. Newsmax revealed that Pence spoke to a Northeastern Republican donor and said he was going to announce in June. The outlet reported that Pence previously had reservations about jumping into the race after being loudly booed at the NRA convention last month in his home state of Indiana. Pence certainly did not help himself after having a meltdown at a dinner back in March. While at the Gridiron Dinner, an annual event...

Behold! Fashion Notes, Met Gala edition are here! I’m breaking down the best and worst dressed stars from the red carpet. For this year’s Costume Institute exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the late and great Karl Lagerfeld is being paid tribute. Lagerfeld died in February 2019 and I wrote about his legacy at the time. I consider him the most innovative designer of the 20th and 21st centuries as he defied expectations during his tenure at Chanel and did not allow the limits of the fashion crowd’s narrow-mindedness dictate his artistry. He designed a world that lives in...

Mary Quant, fashion designer who styled the Swinging Sixties, dies at 93

Fashion designer Dame Mary Quant has died at her home in Surrey, UK, according to her family. She was 93. Synonymous with the Swinging Sixties in London, she helped make hot pants, miniskirts and Vidal Sassoon bobs essential to the era's look. While still in her 20s, Quant opened an influential shop on Kings Road that evolved into a global fashion brand. The daughter of Welsh schoolteachers in London, Quant was fascinated by fashion at an early age. Even as a child during World War II, she found the drab conventions around children's garments stifling. Quant's parents did not approve...
