People can use the bible to justify any position they want when they take words out of context, or read into the text what is not there.
On April 22, 2014, a new attack on the reliability and perspicuity of Scripture was released. “God and the Gay Christian” was a book that sought to teach readers that the Bible condones living a monogamous homosexual lifestyle. That attack continues today in the church.
The author was Matthew Vines, openly homosexual man and a professing Christian. Being an openly practicing homosexual and claiming to be a Christian often means the person has an agenda to attempt to make the Words of Scripture fit with his worldview. This was certainly the case with Matthew Vines. His attitude toward Scripture was like that of Christians who believe in evolution and millions of years, and thus reinterpret the clear words of Genesis to fit their already held beliefs. It is compromise right down the line. We do pray the church realizes this!
Sadly, a number of Christian leaders offered their praise of Vines’s book.

I believe it is important to boldly stand against the ideas Matthew Vines promoted in the book by saying unequivocally that the book “God and the Gay Christian” is dangerous to Christianity.

I’ve never heard anyone suggest they should continue as an addict because they were born that way.
Rather, Barton examples those, who, like exegesis-ignorant anti-theists he parrots, typically ignore context immediate and or larger, and linguistics, etc., and confuse complementarity with contradictions. Such as in asserting that statements as Titus 1:2 contradict statements as 2 Thessalonians 2:9-10.

One can use the Bible to mislead even if the intent is not to mislead; because a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.
1 Corinthians 6:9-11

One of the Evil One’s favorite tools is to deceive one into believing sin is a blessing from God. He does this usually by making it something extremely pleasurable and satisfying. . “It can’t be wrong if it feels so right!”
Sorry Elsie, but once saved, always saved means “Christians” can do whatever they want after their microsecond of Grace. No amount of sin, no matter what it is, or how long it continues, will keep a “Christian Saint” out of heaven. God wouldn’t do that. I heard that on Prophecy Watchers. Yep, God’s law is only for the unsaved. Doesn’t apply to “Christians”. A “Christian” reverting back to any sin, including homosexuality? No problem. FR bible experts said so. /s

In a video titled, “Christianity’s Fatal Error”, a fellow takes the position that God cannot be “omni-” as Christianity claims because He has done such a poor job of leaving a document about himself that is poorly written and impossible to understand.

Could it be that a God, who is not only “omni-” but “Mega-omni-” is capable of writing in such a way that one reader will exclaim, “Fabulous! Now I know how to save my soul.” while another reader will say that “Every page of this is just a bunch of gibberish.” ???
As my tagline says, a person can only find the truth if he is sincerely seeking the truth. Anyone who already has his mind made up will only see things that confirm his bias.
The person who says, "I am a gay Christian." is no longer struggling against their same sex attraction.
That’s the right answer!
Or some dude named “father” tells them what path to take in their life maybe?
That is plausible to me.
The Bible always confirms itself over and over again in Scripture.
When a debased mind cannot comprehend the error of their ways based on what is written and what they read - that could easily spell doom for many.
Most don’t want to know the truth.
And I know Christians who used to drink and do drugs who still struggle with temptation.
