I think it’s a generational thing. For the old established teams in the NE and MW you are a fan, your dad was a fan, your grandfather was a fan, your great-grandfather was a fan. For the South and Southwest teams too many residents are from somewhere else and still root for their old teams.
As we saw with all the Phillies fans in Arizona.
Even here in Dallas, when a team like the Steelers or the Browns play here, the stadium is pretty much 50-50.
And I’d be willing to bet when my Lions come here, AT&T will be “Ford Field South”.
I think God would give the credit to Bruce Bochy, who always gives the credit to his players, never himself. As a Giants fan, I couldn’t be happier for him. He’s a very good man, and a very smart manager.
When I was a kid I would pray for the Dodgers to win the World Series.
Cuz God involves himself in these things, dontcha know.
Also before there were teams in the south and west of the country, pretty much those people rooted for the Cardinals.
That’s why they still have quite the national following.
The Rangers were 11-0 on the road in the 2023 post-season. The odds of that happening are roughly 1 in 2000.
Once the season of the Kansas City Royals is over, I don’t follow baseball until the next season. However, after reading this, I’m retroactively cheering for the Rangers. (Not that hard because I like both Dayton Moore and Chris Young who work in the Rangers’ front office and were once part of the Royals’ organization.)
Yes, they went 11 and 0 on the road.
What’s interesting is
They played the following teams
Rays
Orioles
Astros
Diamondbacks
ROAD
Just a small coincidence.
Yep, God likes baseball
Genesis 1:
1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Big Inning, get it?
“The Rangers won game one in extra innings by a score of 6-5. But the winning run was scored on a walk-off home run, which was pretty exciting. “
The Rangers tying it up in the bottom of the 9th inning was amazing.
:-)
Well, pride does go before the fall (no pun intended).
Fascinating... did not see that one!
Back in the days when playing the Cubs/White Sox and Cardinals/Browns was called “the West Coast swing”.
And what’s really curious is had the Rangers beat Seattle on the final day and won the Division, they would have had Home Field (dis)Advantage.
They only went 2-4 at home during the playoffs.
So losing the division was a blessing in disguise.
Just like in 2003 when the Cubs played the Braves in the playoffs, they played at Wrigley Field and Wrigley Field South.
Rangers-Astros ALCS got decent ratings.
This is the new hot rivalry in MLB.
The only downside to the Rangers winning, is having to hear that damn Creed song again.
Christ said that God knows the numbers of hairs on our heads and that no sparrow falls to the ground without His knowledge. So God certainly can know about the baseball World Series. Whether He wants to interfere with it....not my decision.
