Dealing with heretics

Most of what is called Christianity today in America is very, very weak, causing the apostasy, which drives any nation. No one wants to deal with it and, when you do, you are mocked, called names, etc.

Why? Well, when people cannot defend their position from God's Word, they are left to personally attack you, which is what they did to those in Scripture. The difference is that then soon here, the attacks were bodily, to the point of death by crucifixion, upside down in Peter's case, in Jerusalem.

Not a single person in Scripture dealt with heresy nicely, nor instructed anyone else to. We must always, always say, "What did the people in Scripture do? What did Jesus and the apostles do? And follow likewise. Let the chips fall where they may. In their case, it was not chips, it was their bodies. They were hated vehemently and pressed on, fearlessly.

Nope. That is what is called a claim of the R.C.C., not truth, not fact. If peter was in Rome as “pope” Paul would have addressed him, among many, many other reasons.

Imagine Paul greeting every other person but “the pope”. You will not read it, but I no longer care. Christ is the head of the church, not the “pope”, nor was Peter. Peter never even mentions Rome in his epistles, imagine that! The “pope” Peter!

The Bible would never, ever, ever left out such a detail if it were true. So no, claims are never evidence.

If you have a verse from the Word of God (you do not), bring it. Leave the myths to the pagans. Not interested, thanks.

The early church fathers are unanimous in claiming that Peter died in Rome, by crucifixion, during the persecution of Nero in AD 64.

The strongest evidence to support the thesis that Peter was martyred in Rome is to be found in the Letter to the Corinthians (c. 96 CE; 5:1–6:4)

You do realize that there are historical documents surrounding biblical times right?

Or are you a guy that only sees the Bible as black and white and takes nothing into consideration as to translation or what was going on at the time or how hard it was to translate Aramaic to Greek.

Take for example Joshua 8:26 we will even use King James Bible

The military outpost Ai couldn’t house 12000 people. It was found by Archeologists. The Aramaic translation is 12 groups or 12 units of soldiers and their followers (women prostitutes) unless you understand the people and the history that languages and the culture you are just reading a book translated to English that lost a lot of meaning.

Peter’s martyrdom in Rome has absolutely nothing to do with Catholic traditions. Peter’s martyrdom was prophesied by Christ:

He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?” Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, “Do you love Me?” And he said to Him, “Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.” Jesus said to him, “Feed My sheep. Most assuredly, I say to you, when you were younger, you girded yourself and walked where you wished; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will gird you and carry you where you do not wish.” This He spoke, signifying by what death he would glorify God. And when He had spoken this, He said to him, “Follow Me.”

There is no record of Peter’s martyrdom in the Bible (other than prophetically). So, we can only go by extra-biblical history. Origen writes about the death of Peter, stating that he was crucified in Rome head-downwards. This is one of the earliest sources to mention Peter’s death in Rome, and it is supported by other early Christian writers, such as Eusebius of Caesarea and Tertullian.

Here is the relevant passage from Origen’s Against Celsus:

“And Peter, who was honoured with the highest rank among the apostles, went to Rome, and there preached the gospel to the people. And having suffered martyrdom under Nero, he was crucified with his head downwards, as he himself had requested.” (Origen, Against Celsus, 2.32)

The fact that Peter’s death in Rome is mentioned by Origen in 231 A.D. is significant because it shows that this tradition was already well-established by this time. It is also notable that Origen does not provide any sources for this information, which suggests that it was a widely known tradition at the time.

The tradition of Peter’s death in Rome is further supported by other early Christian writers, such as Eusebius of Caesarea and Tertullian. Eusebius, in his Ecclesiastical History, writes that Peter was “crucified head downwards at Rome” (Eusebius, Ecclesiastical History, 2.25). Tertullian, in his Apology, also writes that Peter was crucified in Rome “head downwards” (Tertullian, Apology, 5.1).

The tradition of Peter’s death in Rome is therefore well-supported by early Christian writers. While there is no definitive proof that Peter died in Rome, the weight of evidence suggests that this is the most likely location of his martyrdom.

Further, Christ told His disciples to flee Jerusalem based on the signs in the Olivet Discourse:

Eusebius of Caesarea and Epiphanius of Salamis, two fourth-century Church Fathers, cite a tradition that before the destruction of Jerusalem in AD 70, the early Christians were warned to flee to Pella, a city in the Decapolis region across the Jordan River (Eusebius of Caesarea, Ecclesiastical History, 3.5.3; Epiphanius of Salamis, Panarion, 79.1).

The idea that Peter remained in Jerusalem permanently is unbiblical. Christ commanded the apostles to go into the world and preach the Gospel:

Mark 16:15 NKJV
And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.”

We know that Peter did travel:

Now when Peter had come to Antioch, I withstood him to his face, because he was to be blamed.

Peter also references being in “Babylon”:

1 Peter 5:13 NKJV
She who is in Babylon, elect together with you, greets you; and so does Mark my son.

While it is possible that Peter traveled to the actual city of Babylon, it is more likely and consistent with history and scripture that this is a reference to Rome. “She” is probably the local church in Rome, as no name of this person is provided.
