Gay? But celibate?
Get out of here!!!!!
Jesus came to deliver you from sin, not allow you to keep your sin.
Furthermore, he stated quite clearly, it is what proceeds out of the heart that defiles the man, not the mouth.
So sin starts with our unholy desires, not our actions.
This is where deliverance comes starts and it starts with our faith our belief in Jesus being able to do just that, deliver us from all sin.
Matthew 19:12
“For there are eunuchs who were born that way; others were made that way by men; and still others live like eunuchs for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. The one who can accept this should accept it.”
I think, in the past, this was seen very commonly as the path for people who had this “demon”... join the clergy and be celibate as the Bible advises. However, even back in the earliest days of the church there were scandals because many of those who tried to follow that path simply couldn’t resist their urges.
So, my opinion is, if you have these urges and want to be a Christian and celibate, great, more power to you. But maybe leave being a clergyman to someone who isn’t suffering this kind of perverse temptation, because otherwise, the consequences if you fail to live up to your commitment are going to harm the Church instead of just yourself.
Just read a book, Gay Christian,Coles. He came to the conclusion the only way to live a life of Christ with those feelings is celibacy. I understand that.
I don’t know about being in a place of leadership in the church though. I don’t know about rationalizing and bending the Word for their benefit. We used to get high and use I John 1:9 and called Greasy Grace Christians. And that’s what we were.
