Catholic/Anglican Caucus] Prepare Your Hearts: Deaconesses Coming Up Sometime in the Near Future

[Catholic/Anglican Caucus] Ecclesia Amazonica - Prepare Your Hearts: Deaconesses Coming Up Sometime in the Near Future

The Amazon Synod, indirectly bankrolled by the pro-abortion Ford Foundation via its main organizer (REPAM), ended today with an explosive decision, one that will shake the foundations of the Church even more than it did the Anglican Communion decades ago.

In his final statement to the Synod, after the final document had been approved by the participants (the document should be available within the hour), Francis announced an explosive decision: he will recreate the commission for the study of the female diaconate, and he will name its new members.

What does that mean?

In August 2016, Francis first established a commission to study female deacons. The commission reached the only logical result, though, as fits this pontificate, a muddled one: there can be no female deacons, not in the sense of the current use of the word "deacon", because the deaconesses of biblical times were charity workers, and not in Holy Orders, as the true Order of the Diaconate has always been.

Now, prompted by his handpicked Amazon Synod, Francis has announced he will reopen the commission, pick new members, and now we can be sure they will reach whatever result he tells them to reach. Which can only be one.

And the Catholic wars will make the battles of the Anglicans look like child's play.

It’s amazing that Trump is stopped at all costs - but nobody can lay a hand on Francis or Obama because that would demean the office.

Pray the Rosary that this does not happen, and that we stick with TRUE church teaching as modeled by Jesus and the male apostles.

I live in a conservative diocese and go to a conservative church. We only have young men serving Mass. Most of the lectors and ushers are men. We have no deacon.

I am Lutheran (LCMS). I am curious to what the office of deacon is in the Roman Catholic church. Can you explain or direct me to a website with a brief explanation please?

Interesting. In the LCMS, Deacons and Deaconess are not ordained, but lay.

Hence why I was a bit confused.

“I live in a conservative diocese and go to a conservative church. We only have young men serving Mass. Most of the lectors and ushers are men. We have no deacon.”

You are very fortunate. I promised my son I would maintain a residence here until he got his degree, but after that I may move to a conservative diocese.

In brief, in the Catholic Church there are three levels of Holy Orders, which means ordained clergy: deacons, priests, bishops. So deacons (even ones who have wives and children, and ones with non-church jobs to support their families) are clergy, not laity.

Although many Catholics see deacons as assistants to the priests, they are directly answerable to the Bishop, not just to a priest they may happen to be assisting. In other words, deacons are appointed by the Bishop, not by a priest or parish. And alhough most deacons work at parishes, some don't.

Deacons have liturgical roles that cannot be filled by laity. They can preside at a Communion Service with pre-consecrated elements but they cannot celebrate Mass). At Mass, they can proclaim the Gospel and deliver the homily. Other roles are summarized (in fun) by "hatch, match and dispatch". They can baptize, officiate at weddings (but not say a nuptial Mass), and preside at funerals and interments (not not say a funeral Mass.)

Married men can become deacons, bnut deacons cannot marry. (The order or sequence is what's indicated here: you can be married and then become a deacon, but you cannot first become a deacon, and then marry.) Married deacons, if they become widowers, may not remarry.

There are other small differences between deacons and priests, but those are the main ones.

Thank you for the explanation. Always ready to learn about the religion of others.

You are lucky.

I attend the Tridentine and Carmelite Rite Latin masses.

I have no doubt that Francis will go after us next.

Pray!
