Pope Francis Says It’s an ‘Honor’ to be Criticized by Americans

His throwaway remark, made in connection with a new book that claims influential American Catholics want him to step down, generated surprise aboard the papal flight today to Mozambique.

ON THE PAPAL PLANE — A quip by Pope Francis aboard the papal plane this morning raised a few eyebrows of those traveling with him — and sent his press handlers scrambling.

After takeoff on his way to the Mozambique capital of Maputo, the Pope customarily greeted journalists on the papal plane. Among those he met was Nicolas Seneze, Rome correspondent for the French Catholic daily newspaper La Croix, which just published Seneze’s book, How America Wants to Change the Pope.

The book threads together different aspects of this pontificate — in particular the McCarrick abuse scandal and the Archbishop Carlo Viganò testimony — to conclude that influential figures in the U.S. Church are out to, if not replace Pope Francis, then to actively challenge him.

The book quotes professor Massimo Faggioli of Villanova as saying wealthy conservative Catholics have stepped into the vacuum of authority left by the sex abuse scandal to become the de facto leaders of the Catholic Church in the U.S.

Why further argue a unmitigated lie?

But you’ve made no argument to support your assertions to begin with.

Exactly. If the Pope a Dope must fly privately he could set an example by getting around in something more modest and efficient, like an old DC 3 retrofitted with turbo props. Sure it would be a little cramped for the Dope and his body guards and entourage, but hey Jesus never complained about his very primitive and uncomfortable travel accomodations did he? And surely such an aircraft would leave a smaller carbon footprint than "Air Vatican"

Rich coming from a guy whose church condemned “Americanism” as a sin throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries.

Youse got Bibles, don'tchas?

Christ gave Peter the keys in Matt 16:19 with language of binding and loosing. This hearkens back to Isaiah 22:20ff.:

"In that day I will summon my servant, Eliakim son of Hilkiah. 21 I will clothe him with your robe and fasten your sash around him and hand your authority over to him. He will be a father to those who live in Jerusalem and to the people of Judah. 22 I will place on his shoulder the key to the house of David; what he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open."
The Pope (=Papa, "father") is Christ's appointed steward. Like Eliakim he wields the authority of the King. When the regent is good and loyal, he is a peg in a firm place, a seat of honor (Isa 22:23-24)

BUT like Shebna, the regent who dares arrogate the power of the keys to advance himself God will cut down and depose (17-19, 25).

The Pope's authority comes from Christ whom he serves. He has none on his own.

Also, an analogy if it helps:

Suppose a parent runs an errand and leaves the oldest “in charge”. What does that mean? It means the kid temporarily has parental authority....but *only* insofar as it is necessary for running the household.

Now suppose the kid in charge doesn’t use that authority for the good of the house, but makes his siblings do all the work and bullies and intimidates them into stuff that they know isn’t right.

Good Catholics right now are the younger siblings praying for Dad to get home.

The United States elected Barack Obama. What's your point?

Obama was elected by a collection of low information voters (to put it politely).

Francis was elected by the cardinals of the Catholic Church, who, having vastly better credentials (I suppose), should have known better.

God Bless your Polish Priest. I wonder how far back we have to go in time to find another Pope who is a disaster like this one? I think the bible holds the ultimate evil as the religious leader who purposely leads the flock astray. This guy has a special place in hell waiting for him.

He laughs all the way to his bank off Americans. ‘We the people’ fund his fake Catholic Charities, to invade this nation with his illegal human trafficking. Anyone who thinks they are going to save this reprobate is massively deceived... His ‘rock’ is not our ‘Rock’.

Obviously, you have no clue what the ‘key of David’ literally means. It is a joke that any out of Rome holds the ‘key’ of David, if they did, you would know, what that ‘key’ literally describes. It is Written what would come of those that add and/or take away from the Word. Funny thing, Christ commanded to call ‘no’ man ‘father’... If you think the crew that elected this latest joker is Christ appointed, the joke if on you.

Enlighten us then. What does that key literally describe?

You would not believe me IF I did tell you. The ‘key’ is what we are told about David. Do your own research, from the WORD, not the traditions of a bunch of men. Remember who it is that opens and closes the door to the ‘key’ of David. The majority would not believe even when shown. Christ foretold that all but the elect would be deceived... the majority on this earth at any given time since the beginning has never been on the side of ‘right’.

I will give you a starting point. What the word ‘the Adam’ of Genesis 3, literally means... you will find the meaning of ‘the Adam’, literally given in I Samuel 16:12.

Oh, you will need to research before man got busy with fixing the ‘WORD’ to fit their doctrines.. of traditions. Christ declared in Mark 13:23 But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things. This declaration was long before any of the so called New Testament was placed on plant fibers, animal skins, or chiseled into stone.

I didn’t think we did too badly with a Polish Pope.

Fall of the Iron Curtain, death of the Soviet Union, etc.

And let me guess....you just *happen* to be a part of the Elect, (nice to meet you!) and your opinion on what the “key” is...why that DEFINITELY *isn’t* a tradition of men, right?

You presume things not claimed. The ‘elect’, are those that will be delivered up for a testimony, as described in Acts on ‘Pentecost’ day. As Paul describes, the ‘elect’, ‘chosen’ ‘saints’, were chosen ‘before the foundation of this world,, they have a duty to perform a testimony, and only they can commit the unpardonable sin, Not allowing the Holy Spirit to speak.. I make no such claims of myself.. but I do know what the ‘key of David’ is.

There is absolutely no authority given to man to pronounce anybody a saint, The Heavenly Father already ‘elected’ them.

You post vanities of vanities, without one shred of Heavenly evidence. I am but a mere commoner, studied the Word, so I know who the skewers of deception literally are.
