2) To what extent is faith a work? Many of my most convicted “faith alone” friends struggle mightily to be seen as believers, I suppose reflecting their internal struggle over it.

Those are interesting questions but could you clarify the second one a bit?

*Their own internal struggle over it* in what way exactly?

In trying to live as they know they should or the struggle with actually believing that salvation is by faith alone?

Jesus seemed to get the “love your fellow man” part ok. Maybe they didn’t do the butt sex thing back then.

Excellent post and your reasons overlap many of mine also.

What Catholicism teaches & preaches continues to be inconsistent with what the Bible says.

Evidently, the fully “God” part of Jesus, the 2nd Person of the Trinity, has escaped this priest.

This is a very interesting, and very polarizing, question.

I fail to see how this is polarizing.

Peter had professed belief in Christ on several occasions.

If this scenario had happened....does he go to Heaven or Hell?

Should be a straightforward yes or no.

Yep...getting ready to get more popcorn. Amazing how Roman Catholics cannot answer such a simple question.
