(CNN)American department store Macy's sparked a fierce debate on Thursday, when it launched a line of "modest clothing" that featured hijabs. The Verona Collection was founded by fashion photographer Lisa Vogl, after she converted to Islam in 2011, and struggled to find modest, fashionable clothing. The brand stands for "women's empowerment and taking pride in one's Muslim identity," according to its website. Macy's decision to stock Vogl's line came after US retailer Nike released a "Pro Hijab" for Muslim athletes, and fashion brand American Eagle's limited-edition denim hijab, which sold out.

LOL! Do you wear it?
“I do have a very big problem with religious requirements that insist that women cover their face...”
They call that being forced to wear a “costume”.
The debate on the CNN website, about the hijab, was satisfying because Masih Alinejad wiped the floor with the obnoxious lefty Linda Sarsour.
Most gave up, went to specialty lines online and/or made clothes themselves!
At one time, clothing for girls up to size 7 did tend to allow young girls to look like girls but along came the push all females to either adopt the slut look or a unisex look.
Now, its almost impossible to buy fitted, stylish ladies slacks that come up to the waist line and for jeans to offer more than a 2-3 zipper, thereby showing ones thong!
Nope, I am able to put together a fashionable wardrobe but only for select stores and avoid the great grandmother elastic waistbands on all my slacks but find very few jeans worth the bother!
Ha..I was going to ask if Macy’s plans on offering mantillas and veils for Catholics.
LL Bean, which also happens to be pro-Trump.
Fairness reigns, right?
What’s even worse is that American women will make this a “fashion statement”
Careful what you wish for ladies.
People like me will no longer shop at Macys. Same thing with JC Penny when they did their gay thing a few years ago.
Unfortunately, there are probably a lot more Muslims that wear hajibs than Catholics who wear veils...$$$
Does Macys sell wooden rods no bigger than a little finger for beating disobedient wives as recommended by the prophet?
If one liked dresses, etc., it used to be Talbots, also for years. Then they hired a new CEO to give their signature looks a fresh, young look! (Like our kids wanted to look like their moms and grandmothers - NOT!)
When Talbots shed their much ballyhooed fresh, younger look and tried returning to their signature styles, unfortunately they had done away with most of their tried and true classic fabrics, to that fresh, young look of cheap polyesters and cheaply made clothes from other sources outside USA manufacturing. Not much is as they were without all the Lycra and spandex in everything!
JJill is another store featuring classic and semi classic styles, less expensive but a bit on the dowdy side. A really classic, stylish yet modest and very feminine store/catalog is Soft Surroundings.
Definitelty for moms and not the Forever 21 look!
I LOVE Soft Surroundings they are a bit pricy however, BUT have GREAT QUALITY!!!!
Like some other stores, I hope they dont lose their appeal once their growth begins to reach out to wider audiences!
Yes, they are a bit pricey (thats why I mentioned JJill for basic pants & tops) but their styling is one of a kind and youll not find 150 of their stuff on racks at mall stores like Macys nor even Nordstroms!
Gee, I think we lost the guys on this thread...
Yeah, they, definitely dropped off along the way!
