Lisbon, Portugal

March 2, 2018

One of the volunteers at the 40 Days for Life vigil in Lisbon said a young woman left the abortion center and wanted to talk.

She said she was pregnant with her first child … and scheduled for an abortion. She said she knows it isn’t right, but her boyfriend is the one pushing the abortion. The volunteer asked her, “Do you have a doctor?”

“No,” she said. The vigil participant made a quick phone call and set up an appointment with a physician.

After a consultation with the doctor, the young woman had joyful news to share: “The baby is going to be born!”

Nashville, Tennessee

March 2, 2018

“God is so good to allow us to take part in helping moms choose life for their babies!” said Marilyn, the 40 Days for Life coordinator in Nashville.

Vigil participants saw a woman headed towards Planned Parenthood and offered to help her. As they talked, the volunteers showed her a fetal model and explained that’s what her baby looks like at this stage of her pregnancy.

“After she held the model in her hands,” Marilyn said, “she started crying.”

The volunteers made plans to accompany her to a pregnancy help center for a free ultrasound. “She is happy that she has changed her mind about the abortion.”

Savannah, Georgia
A young mother left the abortion facility after hearing how far along she was in her pregnancy ... then visited a life-affirming help center, where she saw the ultrasound image of her baby.

“Only the power of your prayers could get a young woman off the table inside the abortion clinic!” said Paula in Savannah. “Pray without ceasing!

Bournemouth, England
Two volunteers had a very fruitful conversation with a couple who were abortion minded. This is the first turnaround from the Bournemouth 40 Days for Life vigil ... which takes place outside a facility where there are 3,000 abortions every year.

Every year 56 million people die in the world ... from all causes.

In addition to those 56 million, another 56 million die from abortion worldwide. We lose the same number of babies every year as from all other causes of death in the world combined. Lord help us!

There are 40 Days for Life campaigns under way right now in 25 countries around the globe. So at any given minute, there is always someone, somewhere, praying for an end to abortion.

And that “someone” could be you!

We still have the entire second half of the campaign to go ... so if you have not done so already, please find your vigil, pray ... and be a witness that Jesus Christ can heal our broken world.

Timisoara, Romania
“God has blessed us,” said one of the 40 Days for Life team members in Timisoara.

While people prayed outside the abortion center, a couple approached the building. The woman went in ... but the man remained outside.

“He began to read the messages from the volunteers’ placards and talked to them,” she said. Before long, he began to see that abortion was not the way to go.

He then went into the abortion facility ... and convinced the woman to come out. With the volunteers’ encouragement, they went to a pregnancy help center for counseling ... and she decided to keep her baby!

“For us it was an encouragement from the Lord,” the volunteer said. “It was a clear message that He is there in the street and that this work is His.”

Perth, Australia

“Our prayerful, physical presence outside of the abortion clinic is highly effective,” said Jo, the 40 Days for Life coordinator in Perth.

One young woman accepted information about support services ... and even spoke to a sidewalk advocate ... but still went into the abortion facility.

“After spending hours inside,” Jo said, “she appeared outside again, with huge relief and happiness on her face and came and told us all that she had decided to keep her baby!”

She added, “we are making a difference.”

Jos, Nigeria
“The campaign to save lives from abortion continues in Jos,” said Maureen, the local 40 Days for Life leader.

A young expectant mother approached volunteers and asked how she could get help to keep her baby, which she is under pressure to abort.

“To the glory of God, she has agreed to keep the baby and we will help her,” Maureen said. “Awesome God!”

DAY 20: “Don’t trust an abortion clinic”

March 5, 2018

Today’s subject line comes from a 40 Days for Life team in Texas.

We’ll get to that in a bit … because it’s a story of one of the babies saved from abortion during this campaign!

In answer to your prayers … we are aware that so far this 40 Days for Life campaign … 196 babies (and their moms) have been spared from abortion!

How does this happen? It’s because of everyday people just like you who are willing to step out of their comfort zones and put their trust in God – who hears and answers prayer.

El Paso, Texas

“Don’t trust an abortion clinic to give you any other choice but abortion,” said one the 40 Days for Life volunteers.

A young woman said she really got the runaround from the abortion staff. She was at least willing to think about adoption, but all she heard about was abortion.

The week before, she’d been to this abortion chain’s other location in nearby Santa Teresa, New Mexico … where she was told her pregnancy was “not viable.” And of course, they recommended abortion.

But volunteers in El Paso were able to accompany her to a life-affirming pregnancy help center … “where she got to see that her precious baby is indeed alive and 9 weeks along,” the volunteer said. “Praise God!”

She also received information on adoption … but after seeing her baby in the ultrasound image, she said she wanted to parent. Please keep her in your prayers.

St. Louis, Missouri

March 5, 2018

“Through even the worst storms,” said Brian, the 40 Days for Life leader in St. Louis, “we see our Lord working through prayer volunteers and sidewalk counselors.”

Two volunteers prayed in a driving rain until a young family stopped to talk.

“When the conversation ended,” said one of the vigil participants, “they were smiling. They drove away from Planned Parenthood toward a life-affirming option.”

As their car turned the corner, the other volunteer cheered, “This is what we’re here for!”

“No matter how miserable the weather is, or how hard the wind blows,” said one of the St. Louis team members, “we are called to persevere in faith that God can work through us, rain or shine, to protect the unborn.

DAY 21: More attacks on free speech

March 6, 2018

Over the past few months, we’ve warned about the growing attacks on freedom of speech … and the attacks on our friends who operate the pregnancy help centers that offer free medical care and alternatives to abortion.

But the worst example is happening in the largest state for 40 Days for Life — California!

A California law requires pro-life help centers that provide medical services to post notices about the availability of free or low-cost abortions. Centers that only offer counseling would have to post a sign – in 13 languages – that they do not provide medical services.

It’s absurd.

This ridiculous law is being challenged at the Supreme Court. I think it will be a victory for those who are pro-life.

Learn about this attack and how pregnancy centers have helped 40 Days for Life save babies from abortion on this week’s edition of the 40 Days for Life podcast.

Please pray for – and support – your local pregnancy help center. We have been honored to stand with them to end abortion at the local level!

Plano, Texas

March 6, 2018

The 40 Days for Life team in Plano held their mid-point rally in front of the Planned Parenthood office, which is an abortion referral center.

Representatives of the White Rose pregnancy resource center and the Rachel’s Vineyard ministry for healing after abortion spoke at the event, as did 40 Days for Life boards members Carol Siedhoff and Alfonso Chicharro.

“It’s so neat to have these organizations join us, because when we say no to Planned Parenthood, people want to know what else we have to offer,” said Randy, the local leader. “And thanks be to God, we have an answer!”

He said the 50 people who attended the rally heard “wonderful stories about helping women say yes to life.”

March roars in like a lion

March 6, 2018

It wasn’t just parts of the United States that saw huge winter storms roll in as the month began.

The photos above show vigils (clockwise from top left) in Serbia, Romania, Scotland and Croatia. The photo below is from Alaska.

With the temperature hovering just above zero Fahrenheit (-17 Celsius), “we didn’t have anyone officially scheduled for the campaign,” said the coordinator in Romania. “Yet the volunteers came spontaneously.”

In spite of the cold and snow, said one team member in Croatia, “we bring warm hearts … clear, steady and unwavering.”

DAY 22: Closed … and CLOSED!

March 7, 2018

As we enter the second half of this 40 Days for Life campaign, we have doubly good news today … as we announce the closing of two more abortion centers!

This now makes 96 abortion facilities that have shut their doors …

… in locations where people have faithfully prayed on the sidewalk during peaceful 40 Days for Life vigils!

Let’s get right to the details!

Iztapalapa, Mexico

March 7, 2018

On Day 16 of the seventh 40 Days for Life vigil in Mexico City’s Iztapalapa section … volunteers gathered to pray as usual outside the Marie Stopes abortion facility.

The door says “bienvenidos” – welcome – but the place is a fortress surrounded by an iron gate with barbed wire at the top and security cameras … so what unfolded last Thursday seemed like a miracle.

As the non-stop prayer continued, employees began taking boxes and furnishings out of the building … placing them in a truck parked right next to the vigil site.

Then workers climbed on scaffolding … removed the “Marie Stopes” signs from the walls … and then carted them away.

The abortion business was closed!

By the end of the work day, the Marie Stopes signs were all gone … and only the 40 Dias por la Vida banner remained. Volunteers prayed in thanksgiving through the evening, praising God for what He had done.

“God has allowed us to witness His great love and mercy,” said one of the team leaders. “Thank you to all who join us in this noble cause.”

Sharonville, Ohio

March 7, 2018

There were eleven 40 Days for Life vigils in the Cincinnati suburb of Sharonville … including the prayer rally shown above that took place a few years back.

Local volunteers have learned that they really have something to celebrate now – the abortion business is closed!

“God is good!” said Mary Jo, who led a number of the 40 Days for Life campaigns there as well as other ongoing prayer efforts. “I believe that our prayers and witness have been instrumental in the closing.”

The facility’s owners operate another center near Dayton, which offers late-term abortions. “Our work is not done,” Mary Jo said. She encouraged participation in other 40 Days for Life vigils in Ohio.
