DAY 38: Twins saved!

March 23, 2018

“It wasn’t a good day,” said one of the 40 Days for Life team members in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

“It was an amazing day!”

“Not only did one mother choose life, but two,” the volunteer said. “And it wasn’t just two babies saved … but three!”

When one of these moms was told she was pregnant with twins, she realized she couldn’t go through with the abortion.

“Praise be to God,” the team member said. The woman came out of the abortion center to tell the 40 Days for Life volunteers that “she had chosen life for her two precious children.”

Just days after this happened, the Fayetteville team reported another mother of twins rejected abortion!

We’ve also heard of twins saved in Virginia Beach, Virginia and Dayton, Ohio. We are doubly thankful for this great news!

Savannah, Georgia

March 23, 2018

“Two precious babies were saved from abortion at the Savannah abortion clinic!” said one of the 40 Days for Life team members.

One of the stories involves a woman who arrived with her mother and boyfriend. She wanted the abortion, but her mom and the child’s father were opposed.

After a sidewalk counselor spoke to the young woman, she began to cry. They accepted an invitation to visit the local pregnancy help center.

Twenty years earlier, that help center encouraged the young woman’s mother to choose life for her daughter – yes, the very same daughter who, earlier that day, had been pondering an abortion of her own.

But she, too, chose life!

“God saved two generations!” the 40 Days for Life volunteer said. “We thank and praise the Lord for His goodness and mercy!

Manchester, England

March 23, 2018

This is the 13th 40 Days for Life campaign in Manchester … and in that time, volunteers report they have witnessed 87 babies saved from abortion at their vigil outside a very busy Marie Stopes facility.

Robert Colquhoun, 40 Days for Life’s international campaign director, said there are fresh challenges during the current campaign.

“There is now a group of abortion escorts outside now, after Abortion Rights Ireland (a George Soros-funded group) organised a meeting,” he said. “The Sister Supporter group have been presence this campaign.”

Robert says the leadership team members “are doing a tremendous job and the volunteers have been doing amazingly well. May God bless their witness!”

DAY 39: Before, during and after

March 24, 2018

At 40 Days for Life vigils, we are there before, during and after a woman chooses abortion.

We are there to offer the last hope for the babies, to be there in solidarity with them as they lose their lives … and to be the first sign of mercy to the women as they leave.

But for your presence, the women are alone as they leave. And there is no follow-up appointment with the abortion facility.

We are also there before, during and after a woman chooses life!

Some people cynically claim, “You are telling women to give birth, but where will you be once the baby is born?”

We know of mothers that 40 Days for Life leaders have stayed in touch with for years. Some volunteers have even been asked to be in the delivery room with the moms, attend their weddings … or serve as godparents to their children.

40 Days for Life volunteers’ concern and compassion are often seen during the campaign … and here’s an example.

Walnut Creek, California

A 40 Days for Life volunteer in Walnut Creek noticed a young family entering Planned Parenthood’s driveway … and soon learned this couple with a small child was 12 weeks pregnant.

The thought of abortion broke their hearts, but they saw no way to care for another child. They were homeless … basically living in their car.

The volunteers sprang into action. They told them about all of the practical support they would receive at the local Birthright center. One vigil participant offered them money to fuel their car. Others arranged for a few nights at a motel.

Fast-forward a bit, and the family has connected with Birthright … a local agency is helping them search for a home … and the mom has been filling out job applications.

“Praise God!” said one of the 40 Days for Life vigil participants. “A baby saved! A family assisted! Hope for future generations!”

And it is all because these volunteers are willing to reach out in practical ways.

“It is with great joy that we have the opportunity to help clothe the naked, take in the homeless, feed the hungry,” the Walnut Creek team member said. “We do it for HIM!”

Chapel Hill, North Carolina

March 24, 2018

A young woman pulled up to Planned Parenthood in Chapel Hill … and just wanted to talk.

“We talked about everything from the sanctity of life to the feminist perspective of the pro-life movement,” said Stacey in Chapel Hill, “how places like Planned Parenthood claim to be for choice but refuse to show women images of their unborn children … and so on.”

She noted that abortion advocates are often surprised when you’re familiar with their talking points and can offer solid responses.

“Despite the fact that she was ‘pro-choice,’ she thanked us for what we were doing, for being peaceful and willing to engage in dialogue,” Stacey said.

“I believe she saw something in us and was thirsty for what secular feminism could not give her,” she added. “I would ask you to pray for this woman to come to faith in Christ and see the sanctity of life.”

DAY 40: Just being there

March 25, 2018

We’ve heard the story so many times.

“If only someone had been there,” a mother will say, “I may have never gone in for my abortion.”

If only …

What if …

It might have been different.

For 40 days, you’ve been there. For 40 days, you’ve made a difference.

We have many reports that just the sight of people peacefully, quietly praying outside the abortion center was all it took to make women stop, turn around and leave without having an abortion.

40 Days for Life may be ending … but the need continues. Why not make plans to pray at your local abortion center regularly? Many do so once a month, or once a week.

There are still women pondering abortion. All they need is someone to be there. Someone … like you!

Lawndale, California

March 25, 2018

It was raining when 40 Days for Life volunteers noticed a woman walking slowly towards the entrance of the building.

They asked if she had an appointment for an abortion. She said “yes” … and burst into tears.

She was pregnant with her fifth child and felt overwhelmed. She said she didn’t believe in abortion and didn’t want to do it … yet there she was. Her husband said it was solely her decision – and her burden.

The volunteer said she also had five children … and number 5 was there with her! She showered the woman with words of encouragement … gave her helpful information … and told her it was okay to get back in her car and go home.

“The woman was relieved and smiled as she reached her car,” said Laura in Lawndale. “She just needed someone to tell her that it was okay to keep the child … and that she could do it!”

Milwaukee, Wisconsin

March 25, 2018

“The weather was cold enough to chill the bones,” said Dan in Milwaukee, “but those that went out earlier must have warmed up the sidewalks with their prayer!”

He spoke to a young woman who was on her way out of the abortion center. “I inquired about her baby and she said her baby was doing well and she was leaning toward parenting her child,” he said.

When asked if this was her first child, she shook her head “no.” Dan responded, “Then you already know how special this child is in God’s eyes, unique and never to be repeated again.”

As soon as Dan mentioned God, she began to cry. “I’ve seen these tears before,” he said. “These were tears of the peace one experiences when submitting to God’s will.”

She then said, “You’re right. I choose life. I can’t do that to my baby.”

“I gave her some pro-life literature and my card and told her to call me if she ever needed any help whatsoever,” Dan said. “She shook my hand and said thank you.”

All she needed was for someone to be there.

DAY 41: Results!

March 26, 2018

The largest (and, in many places, the coldest) Lenten 40 Days for Life campaign so far has ended – thank you for helping save so many lives!

We have a big event coming up to share the life-saving results … so watch your email this week for details!

Reports are still coming in … but local 40 Days for Life leaders tell us that as of now, they’re aware of

490 babies in 354 locations around the world whose mothers have rejected abortion and chosen life!

In many cases, all it took was the simple act of showing up to pray on the sidewalk.

Cincinnati, Ohio

March 26, 2018

A woman outside the Planned Parenthood abortion center told 40 Days for Life participants in Cincinnati that she is pregnant … and a Christian.

“She’d had an abortion before and said she would never do that again,” a volunteer related, “but she didn’t know what else to do. So she scheduled an abortion … and paid the deposit.”

But thankfully, she saw people praying at the vigil … and went back to Planned Parenthood to get her deposit back. The volunteers then walked with her to the pregnancy help center about two blocks away, where she was greeted with open arms and life-affirming options.

Mary, the Cincinnati leader, said that although this woman was aware deep down that abortion was the wrong choice, without 40 Days for Life volunteers present, “she might not have known there was any place that could help her … and may have rescheduled the abortion.”

Boston, Massachusetts

March 26, 2018

As a small group prayed outside Planned Parenthood in Boston, a woman walked out of the building … and over to them.

“She was beaming, radiant with joy,” said one of the vigil participants, “and just had to share her good news that she was keeping her child and not going to have an abortion!”

The woman thanked them profusely, saying “she was grateful to all of us for being there!”

She got into the car that had arrived to pick her up … but rolled down the window and continued thanking the 40 Days for Life participants.

“I am trying to give you a sense of her joy,” said the volunteer who related this story. “I do think her decision to keep her child was in some very real way an answer to all of our prayers and prayerful presence.”

Memphis, Tennessee

March 26, 2018

“It was abortion day at Planned Parenthood,” said Kathy in Memphis.

“It is always heartbreaking seeing the ladies leave,” she said. “The look on their faces is that of horror, shock, pain … and deep sadness.”

Occasionally, though, there are signs of hope. Two women went in for ultrasound exams. When the first one left Planned Parenthood, she called out, “This place is awful! I won’t go back!”

She chose life for her baby!

The second woman then left … and showed volunteers the image of her 13-week-old baby. “She had four kids,” Kathy said, “but she said no to five. She is in a crisis.”

This mom doesn’t want to have an abortion, but feels like she must. “We exchanged numbers,” Kathy said. Please pray for her. “We will send God’s Word … and offer her hope.”
