Thanks for posting and taking the flames. People who haven’t actually read the Bible are not ready for the extra material. First one has to understand the Salvation Plan specified in the Tanauck and commented on by the Gospels and letters. Then one can enjoy things like finding out that Esau sold his birthright because he was exhausted from killing Nimrod and his guard.

But the line is even more direct. Ruth and Orpah’s father was a minor Moabite “king” and had aligned himself with the Philistines by, once again, marrying off his daughter.
Jeez, she came that close to having her company named Hapro Productions. It doesn’t have the same “ring” as Harpo Productions.
That’s what they did back in those days, to keep peace.
Solomon married a daughter of the current Pharaoh of Egypt (it was allowed), so the Pharaoh attacked Gaza (then a Philistine Provence) and sacked it then gave it them as a ‘wedding present’. The Egyptians didn’t want it then and they don’t want it now, either...........................

Maybe, or they weren’t deep thinkers.
Even if one just relied on the text of the Book of Ruth, you see a woman loved by her sister and her mother-in-law — AND — who was a serious candidate for conversion. Naomi urged them to go three times — Ruth said no three times. Orpah said no twice, and recanted G-d (and women and people she loved and who loved her) on the the third time.
It sets her and her family to be the nemesis of Ruth and her family.
Everything after Oprah turning back is not in Scripture. Even the nature of Oprah’s departure is miscast: she had to be persuaded to leave.
There is also Goliath was from Gath, and not from any place in Moab. Gath is to the West of Bethlehem, Moab is generally to the south west. The Moabites and Philistines are, moreover, two entirely separate peoples.

Don’t know about the Nazarine writings, but I do have to laugh at Nazarines who reject anything not in the 4 corners of the Bible -— notably because the entire concept of heaven and eternal life they harp on is promised in the Talmud and not the Tanukah.
This was actually the major dispute between the Sadducee’s (who rejected the oral law) and the Pharisees.
