This story has nothing to do with that famous 16th century simony. It has to do with filthy-rich Cardinals looting all the resources they can get their hands on.

“Advocate of a poor Church”. If this is their “poverty,” I’d hate to see their “chastity.”

They might fare better with the chastity, but again that’s all external.
