Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem
Meditating Upon The Names and Attributes of God
Yahveh Tsidkenu (The LORD is My Righteousness)
(Old Testament)
Jeremiah 23
The Righteous Branch
23 Woe to the shepherds who are destroying and scattering the sheep of my pasture! declares the Lord. 2 Therefore this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says to the shepherds who tend my people: Because you have scattered my flock and driven them away and have not bestowed care on them, I will bestow punishment on you for the evil you have done, declares the Lord. 3 I myself will gather the remnant of my flock out of all the countries where I have driven them and will bring them back to their pasture, where they will be fruitful and increase in number. 4 I will place shepherds over them who will tend them, and they will no longer be afraid or terrified, nor will any be missing, declares the Lord.
5 The days are coming, declares the Lord,
when I will raise up for David[a] a righteous Branch,
a King who will reign wisely
and do what is just and right in the land.
6 In his days Judah will be saved
and Israel will live in safety.
This is the name by which he will be called:
The Lord Our Righteous Savior.
3. (End of Scripture Passage)
Yahveh Tsidkenu (The LORD is My Righteousness)
What the NIV translates here as "The Lord Our Righteous savior" is the descriptive Name for God Yahveh Tsidkenu (The LORD is My Righteousness)

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem
Oh YHVH Tsidkenu, Our God and Our King,
You are Our Righteousness
We Can Never Attain it Ourselves.
Just as Abraham believed You,
And it was counted unto him as Righteousness,
We ask You To give us that Measure of Faith,
And lead Us in Paths of Righteousness for Your Name's sake.
We Pray that there will be insight and clarity in governance,
So that America can once again Believe You.
And walk in the Path of Righteousness,
Which will eventually lead us to prosperity and peace.
Our enemies surround us, But You identify them and anoint us to stand tall.
We Know You are with us, and Will be forever, in this world and the next.
May the Leaders of Our Own Beloved USA
Receive Wisdom from You
to do the Right Thing.
We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.
Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.
Hallelujah and Amen

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem
I have two stories to share with you today.
The first story is about Sgt. Alvin York, pictured above.
Though this story took place 100 years ago, Sgt York has been remembered in books and documentaries, and a very fine movie starring Gary Cooper. Alvin York was known as a hard-drinking, volatile "hillbilly" when suddenly he had a conversion experience and became a Fundamentalist Christian. When he got drafted into "The Great War" (WW1), he assumed that the Commandment "Thou Shalt Not Kill" was enough to make him a Conscientious Objector. However, since he was not a member of an officially recognized Pacifist Sect, the Army rejected his petition for CO, and he found himself in Europe. There is much more to the story, but Sgt York went on to be an incredible hero, and beloved of America. His Righteousness did not come from his membership in a church, not his valor in battle, nor even his attempts to adhere to his own interpretation of The Ten Commandments. His Righteous came from God, imputing it to him, and clothing him it in it, like a Robe. His Faith was in YHVH Tsidkenu.
The second story brings us to a little talk I had with a friend about the Bible. "I hate the Bible" he said, "because there is so much VIOLENCE in it! I hate violence". Of course, I walked right into the trap, by saying, "That's mostly just in the Old Testament"(WRONG THING TO SAY!), and of course, he countered me with Herod's Slaughter of the Innocents, Paul's persecution of Christians, Judas's betrayal, and, of course, the brutal execution of Jesus. I was stuck...what could I say to THAT?
Then it dawned on me. Unlike Greek Tragedy, where the one fault of the hero (usually HUBRIS!) leads to his downfall, the vast sweep of Scripture with all its mayhem and imperfect people leads to one thing: REDEMPTION. We are not perfect, and brought down by one fatal flaw. We are IMPERFECT, and redeemed by the Righteousness of Christ.
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
God Bless America!

OE be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the LORD.
2 Therefore thus saith the LORD God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and |
driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the LORD.
3 And I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all countries whither I have driven them, and will bring them again to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase.
4 And I will set up shepherds over them which shall feed them: and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall they be lacking, saith the LORD.
5 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth.
6 In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

The second story brings us to a little talk I had with a friend about the Bible. "I hate the Bible" he said, "because there is so much VIOLENCE in it! I hate violence". How about television, movies? Nature? You should have told him to get rid of his TV, and then never leave his house. But then being cooped up like that, he might have been inclined to break things. ;)

Of Course you are correct about that!
But you see, by saying he hates the Bible because he hates violence was, in fact, saying that because HE escews violence, he was more righteous than the Bible!
And that’s called SELF-Righteousness. :-)

You are right.
The Bible is not even interesting to most people. There’s something about it that rattles those who know better. Too much violence, too many instructions, too many judgments, too much ‘hate’.
(But they’ll keep feeding the Hollyweird beast.)
There’s no peace at all without the word of God. If it’s all that it is accused of, imagine how much worse things would be without it.
Of course, there’s no need to imagine.
If people would read it merely for the puns, they would not be able to put it down. And a lot less awful stuff would be going on, because there are only so many hours in a day.

PS. I had just gone outside to roll up my car window because it started to sprinkle. . .saw your article with the rainbow in the picture. Stopped what I was doing to see if there was a rainbow in the sky (I am always looking for them). . .there was a rainbow (I’m smiling) and it didn’t rain. I am forever reminded that God keeps His promises.
