MSM: Christian Prayers Along Polish Border a ‘Problematic Expression of Islamophobia’
Breitbart ^ | 10/10//17 | Thomas D. Williams

Reporting on the extraordinary turnout for the “Rosary on the Borders” prayer campaign in Poland, the Associated Press (AP) suggested that the event smacked of “a problematic expression of Islamophobia.”

On-the-ground sources said that over a million Poles turned out Saturday to pray the rosary along the country’s 2,000-mile border for the salvation of their country.

According to the spokesman for the Polish Bishops’ Conference, Father Pawel Rytel-Andrianik, the event drew “millions of people” to pray the rosary together and was the second-largest prayer event ever held in Europe, after the 2016 World Youth Day.

“This exceeded the boldest expectations of the organizers,” he said.

Organizers scheduled the event for Oct.7, the Feast of the Holy Rosary, which commemorates the anniversary of the Battle of Lepanto, where “the Christian fleet overcame the Muslim armada, saving Europe from Islamization.”

The feast day, originally called “Our Lady of Victory,” was established by Pope Pius V in 1571 after the so-called Holy League won a landmark victory over the invading Ottoman Turks at the Battle of Lepanto. At the time, much of Europe was under siege from the Islamic forces, which sought to win the entire continent for Allah.

The AP warned that Saturday’s national event, which was endorsed by Polish church authorities, had “anti-Muslim overtones.”

In regard to Catholic bashing, I think some people are waiting to pounce on any Religion forum thread to bash.

I would like to praise right now the million Poles who came out to pray, and who demonstrated a realistic view of the danger of Islam. I admire them.

Well, yes, it does. Any rational infidel has anti-Moslem overtones.

I think this thread was intended to show something admirable that the Poles did.

Do you feel compelled to turn every Religion thread into a debate about Mary and the Catholic faith?

Nope. Just pointing out the error.

Many sectarians have as their entire reason for existence being not-Catholic. Discussing anything in religion with them is like discussing gun control with a Democrat. There is no discussion, only invective.

I’ve gone over your posting history. You have a real problem with Catholics. It appears to be from a
position of religious arrogance.

where in the bible does it say dead people (even saints) can pray or intercede on our behalf?

Mary will always be seen as blessed as the scripture says.....

But Jesus made it clear He alone is our only means of connection to God the Father. He told us to ask God our requests in His (Jesus’s) name.

I have huge respect for what Mary did, I was honored as a child to be picked to crown Mary with the ring of flowers in May, but many years later when I actually started reading and learning what is in the bible, I had to accept as a Christian I’m not to pray to her or other people. To me that seems idolatry, elevating them as more than human, and to think God would listen to me praying to or through another person instead of me and my heart, praying thru His Son Jesus as the Word of God tells us to.

I have a problem with the errors of Roman Catholicism. I've encountered a number of very nice Roman Catholics as individuals. I've also encountered a couple who aren't so nice.

Roman Catholics don't like to be challenged on their beliefs. A lot of them can't explain why they believe what they do.

When presented with contradicting verses from the Bible they often accuse us of "hating Catholics."

No. The errors of Roman Catholicism are easy to spot. Again, most Roman Catholics don't like to be challenged over their beliefs.

“””I have a problem with the errors of Roman Catholicism.”””

What makes you an expert on faith?

What makes you an expert on faith?

Study. Reading the Bible. Comparing Scripture to what Rome proclaims.

I guess that the Holy League gathered at Lepanto and Jan Sobieski’s lifting of the siege of Vienna were also a problematic expressions of Islamophobia.

Hmm. Well, it was an event to commemorate the defeat of the Muslims preventing the takeover of Europe by them. Soooo, I would say it probably was supposed to have "anti-Muslim overtones".

“The article would be more accurately titled....Roman Catholic prayers....not Christian. Praying to Mary is not in Christianity.”

Belittling Catholics is not Christian and you are not a Christian when you do. Take your hate elsewhere.
