I’m not Catholic. The first, and only, time I’ve taken Communion was at a Catholic Church in Sedona, Arizona. Was that wrong?
Yes, but if it was unintentional (i.e. you didn’t know you were violating a rule), don’t worry about it.
God is a loving and merciful God. (and boy, oh boy, am I ever glad He is!)
yes it was wrong....I went to a Presbyterian church when visiting extended family and I did not partake of the “communion”....I think it disrespectful.....I assume that others study and prepare for their communion as I would mine.
“The first, and only, time Ive taken Communion was at a Catholic Church in Sedona, Arizona. Was that wrong?”
With 100%, respect: yes. It is wrong to take Communion in a Catholic Church without formally enrolling in the Catholic Church. You have two options: easy and difficult. Easy: claim ignorance and get a pass. Difficult: claim responsibility and then talk to a priest, fast for two years, talk to the priest again, and hope for mercy on your account.
If a priest allows non-Catholics to take Communion, then he is guilty and no one wants to be in his shoes.
Holy Communion is in some ways analogous to the Communion of the spouses in marital love. It isn’t right to do this without marriage: that is, the sacrament of Matrimony by which they pledge themselves to each other with a formal, lasting bond.
Holy Communion is similar in that it isn’t right unless it’s preceded by commitment of a very particular, sacred, permanent and public kind.
You must believe what Catholics believe and be received into the Catholic Church.
It wasn’t your fault st the time because you didn’t know. Peace.
Well...
The Book that Catholicism has passed down to us says:
1 Corinthians 11:28"Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup. For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves
It doesn't seem to be ANYONE's task but your own to answer the question you've posed.
Yes, unless you believe everything the Church teaches. Same with other denominations: don’t partake if you don’t talk the talk and walk the walk.
