The Sign of The End of The Age...Matthew 24 pt 6

And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. (Matthew 24:4-8)

The Third answer comes first, in Matthew 24. The Disciples asked Jesus, ‘What is the sign of the End of the Age’?

First of all Jesus warns us against deceit. There would always be false Messiahs, and much false speculation over the centuries because there would be many wars and desolations unto the end, as Daniel the prophet warned in Daniel 9.

The fact of wars over the centuries doesn’t mean the end has come yet, neither does the existence of false prophets and Messiahs. The Centuries would be littered with them.

The sign of the End of this present age, will be marked by a scale of war which will have been proven to be unprecedented. The expression “Nation shall rise against nation and Kingdom against Kingdom…” is a reference to World War.

I believe that the sign of the end of the Age was the outbreak of World War One, and all that followed, including World War 2, the founding of the State of Israel, the establishment of the United Nations, the colonial retreat and the decline of the Christian West.

The Evangelical Scholar Arnold Fruchtenbaum also teaches that the expression “Nation shall rise against nation and Kingdom against Kingdom…” refers to something which only the scale of World War could match,

To understand what the idiom nation against nation, and kingdom against kingdom means, it is necessary to return to the Jewish origin of these statements. This expression is a Hebrew idiom for a world war. Yeshua’s statement here is that when a world war occurs, rather than merely a local war, that world war would signal that the end of the age had begun.

This is quite in keeping with the Jewish writings of this same period. One Jewish source known as the Zohar Chadash states: “At that time wars shall be stirred up in the world. Nation shall be against nation and city against city; much distress shall be renewed against the enemies of the Israelites.”

Another Jewish source known as the Bereshit Rabbah states: “If you shall see the kingdoms rising against each other in turn, then give heed and note the footsteps of the Messiah (XLII:4).”

The rabbis clearly taught that a world-wide conflict would signal the coming of the Messiah. Yeshua corrected this idea slightly, for He said that when the world war occurs, while it does not signal the coming of the Messiah, it will signal that the end of the age has begun. These birth pangs that Yeshua talked about are the same as the “footsteps” that the rabbis talked about. The “footsteps of the Messiah” had to do with the series of events that will lead up to the coming of the Messiah. The title of the 500-page prophecy book, The Footsteps of the Messiah, is based on this Jewish concept, reflected in the Matthew account concerning nation against nation, kingdom against kingdom.

World War I, 1914-1918, was the fulfillment of this particular prophecy, for that was the First World War. As virtually all historians agree, World War II was merely a continuation of World War I. Furthermore, both world wars had a decisive impact on Jewish history. World War I gave impetus to the growth of the Zionist movement, and World War II led to the re-establishment of the Jewish State. Since World War I, history has entered the last days of the Church Age. However, the last days are an extended period of time.

The sign that the end of the age has begun is the world-wide conflict fulfilled by World War I and World War II.

Consider that the Western World has never recovered from World War One and its aftermath (WW2). The staggering loss in blood and treasure , as modern, confessedly Christians nations slaughtered each other on an industrial scale, bringing into the conflict their own colonial subjects, and commonwealth partners, changed the World forever.

One of the outcomes of the War was the post war infection and growth of the Communistic scourge, which eventually enslaved almost a third of the known world. Starting with once Orthodox Russia, the atheistic Revolution gutted and bankrupted one of the world’s great Christian empires.

The re-creation of the nation of Israel, after nearly two thousand years, the scattered Jews regathered, brought back into the land in a state of unbelief, and estrangement from God, as the Prophets foretold she would, is a direct outcome of World War 1 and it’s inevitable sequel, World War 2.

“And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea.” Isaiah 11:11. “Fear not: for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west;(6) I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth.” Isaiah 43:5, 6.

“Behold, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the coasts of the earth, and with them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and her that travaileth with child together: a great company shall return thither. (9) They shall come with weeping, and with supplications will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, wherein they shall not stumble: for I am a father to Israel , and Ephraim is my firstborn. (10) Hear the word of the LORD, O ye nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd doth his flock.” Jeremiah 31:8-10.

The First World War was used to seize the Levant from the hands of Ottoman Turks, and put it into the hands of British and French allies. The Holy land of Israel came into the hands of the British, who had promised a Jewish homeland to the Jews in the Balfour declaration.

The second World War was used to convince European and Russian Jewry, that they could never have a permanent home anywhere on earth, but in the Land God gave Abraham,Isaac and Jacob. In May 1948 the world witnessed a Biblical miracle for a Nation was born in a day, the Land of Israel emerged and has dominated international attention(mostly negative) ever since.

The world was ending since it began!

Revelation says 7 years.

But World War 1 was the start of the end of the age?

What?

There are so many contradictory viewpoints on prophecy in the Bible, how can anyone know for sure? They can’t.

For all we know humanity will be reduced to millions, then come back to billions, have a couple more world wars, then it could be the end of the world.

When two men preach Jesus is the messiah in Israel are killed and come back to life , the oceans turn to blood, great mountains of fire are thrown into the ocean, and earthquakes shake the entire Earth I will believe it is the end. Other than that it’s all up to interpretation and everyone could be wrong.

Matthew 24:27 For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.

He must be one heck of a big Dude!!!

The so called ‘end of the world’ spoken of in the Bible is not scheduled to happen at a certain TIME. It is scheduled (by GOD) to happen at a certain CONDITION.

You know, there is a reason the Rabbi’s prohibited the Jews from reading Daniel or attempting to calculate the timing of the coming of the Savior.

My grandparents said a few times that during World War 2 there were many that truly believed it was The End.

quote-Truly I say to you, there are some of those who are standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom.“ (Matthew 16: 27, 28)

Then we read in chapter 17 what happened next,freedomstar..

Mathew 17
6 days later, some disciples were standing there (3) were brought to the top of the mount of transfigutation and saw the King of Kings transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light.

That’s Him in His Kingdom..They even heard the voice of the Father!

I don’t have the parallel accounts, but I am almost sure that after He made those statements in Mathew Mark and Luke, the next account in the scriptures is the mount of transfiguration.
Where some, a remnant of the 12, of those who were standing there saw Him in His Kingdom. face like the sun in whiter than white..As He is in His Kingdom.

It’s interesting that only 3 of the 12 went up. the rest were on the ground struggling to cast out a demon.

Right, that is why I am not talking about the day or hour of his coming. I am talking about something else entirely, the passing of one Age and the onset of another...

Great post, thank you!

The Holy land of Israel came into the hands of the British, who had promised a Jewish homeland to the Jews in the Balfour declaration.

Deuteronomy 33:22 And of Dan he said:
“Dan is a lion’s whelp;
He shall leap from Bashan.”

Judges 5:17 Gilead stayed beyond the Jordan, And why did Dan remain on ships? Asher continued at the seashore, And stayed by his inlets.

Genesis 49:17 Dan shall be a serpent by the way, A viper by the path, That bites the horse’s heels So that its rider shall fall backward.

Battle of Navarino

Clip:

By about 4 p.m., all three Ottoman ships of the line and most of the large frigates of the first line had been despatched. This left the mass of smaller vessels in the second and third lines at the mercy of the Allied ships of the line, all of which were still operational. During the ensuing massacre, Codrington tried twice to order a ceasefire, but his signals were either invisible because of the thick smoke or ignored in the heat of the battle.[65] Within the following two hours, virtually the entire Ottoman fleet was destroyed, despite the signal bravery of the Ottoman crews, which was praised by Codrington himself in his dispatches. Three quarters were sunk: many of them, dismasted but still afloat and reparable, were blown up or set on fire by their own crews to prevent them falling into Allied hands.[66]

This contributed to the horrendous Ottoman and Egyptian casualty figures, as many men were trapped in burning or exploding vessels. Some, as mentioned, were shackled to their posts. Ottoman casualties given to Codrington by Letellier were approx. 3,000 killed, 1,109 wounded, although Codrington claimed the reverse was more likely. Of the entire Ottoman-Egyptian armada of 78 vessels, just eight remained seaworthy: one dismasted ship of the line, two frigates, and five corvettes.

Within the following two hours, virtually the entire Ottoman fleet was destroyed

Rule Britannia!

Dan shall be a serpent by the way, A viper by the path, That bites the horse’s heels So that its rider shall fall backward

as for the horse and its rider...

This analysis was brought to my attention by a friend, not my own...

Revelation 9:7 The shape of the locusts was like horses prepared for battle. On their heads were crowns of something like gold, and their faces were like the faces of men. 8 They had hair like women’s hair, and their teeth were like lions’ teeth. 9 And they had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots with many horses running into battle. 10 They had tails like scorpions, and there were stings in their tails. Their power was to hurt men five months. 11 And they had as king over them the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, but in Greek he has the name Apollyon.

Find a map of the middle east, ah here's one

Right click on image and select 'rotate clockwise' so that west becomes north, so to speak And notice

Horses prepared for battle, Turkey is the rider

Crowns of something like gold, Sinai

Faces of men, Jordan

Women’s hair, Lebanon

Lions’ teeth, Jordan

Breastplates of iron, Iraq

Sound of their wings, Iraq

Tails like scorpions, U.A.E. and Somalia

And take another look at Turkey...

Job 38:15 From the wicked their light is withheld, And the upraised arm is broken.

Psalm 37:17 For the arms of the wicked shall be broken, But the Lord upholds the righteous.

Again, the Revelation 9 map (shape of the locusts) was from a friend of mine...

Nice formatting. Really the better paragraph break would be at “”Th end is not yet”. You are right, and I even said in the article, there will always be “wars and rumors of wars” throughout history.

But the expression “Nation shall rise against nation...”refers to something far greater and goes with the expression,”All of these (Words war, famine and earthquakes in different places)are the beginning of sorrows(Birth pangs).

Any minute the Preterists will be here telling us it all happened in 70 AD.

You are still no worse than they are even if you do think that nothing has happened in the last two thousand years.

If it all happened in ad 70 we would not be here now, so there is bound to be a few things that have not happened, like this earth melting with fervent heat, the ones waiting for the rapture, their tongues hanging out dying with heat stroke .

We entertain angels unaware, why not ancient disciples of Christ. Who is to say that they still don't walk the earth? Who is to say that The LORD may not have raptured them until the end, maybe even the two witnesses. We have the tendency to think about things in a very usual way, not understanding God's ways, nor His abilities.

It is interesting to look at what Jesus said. He said no one knew the day, nor the hour. He is actually implying that we could/should know or be aware of time He is coming to the month, week, or even maybe even within a few days.
He chided the people of His time for not being aware of the times spiritually, when they were well able to predict the weather.
