Yakima, Wash., Jul 14, 2017 / 04:32 pm (CNA/EWTN News).- Flower shop owner Barronelle Stutzman is asking the U.S. Supreme Court to protect her from a Washington state court ruling that could destroy her financially because her religious beliefs prevented her from serving a same-sex wedding ceremony.
“If the government can ruin Barronelle for peacefully living and working according to her faith, it can punish anyone else for expressing their belief,” said Stutzman’s attorney Kristen Waggoner, a senior counsel with the Alliance Defending Freedom legal group.
“The government shouldn’t have the power to force a 72-year-old grandmother to surrender her freedom in order to run her family business. Anyone who supports the First Amendment rights that the U.S. Constitution guarantees to all of us should stand with Barronelle.”
“Our nation has a long history of protecting the right to dissent, but simply because Barronelle disagrees with the state about marriage, the government and ACLU have put at risk everything she owns,” Waggoner charged.
The attorney said the court decision not only endangered Stutzman’s business. It also endangered her family’s savings, her retirement fund, and her home.
Waggoner said her client, who is Southern Baptist, faced “burdensome penalties” simply for exercising a right of free expression.

There is no doubt in my mind that these cases were setups by the radical gay activists targeting Christians.
If the Supreme Court rules against the florist President Trump should immediately issue her a pardon.
Unfortunately Kennedy may want to establish his legacy by ruling against the florist before he retires.

Conscientious objector has been on the books forever. This is just another application.
She provided service to this gay couple on numerous occasions prior to them asking for her to provide flowers for their “wedding”. She also provided them the names of other florists who would be willing to help them.
So far Trump has not lifted a finger to roll back any cross dressing, homosexual policies put in place by Obama. It is said that Jarred and Ivanka, the George Soros partying liberals have his ear on social issues. As for Kennedy, he is called a moderate but we all know moderate is just another word for almost hard core left wing.

OK, good, I do recall that now but my focus is primarily the military where I did a career. Very little if anything has changed there to remove Obama’s destructive policies.

I think that is a near certainty, though it may be the Baker case that sets the precedent first. Kennedy is a lost case on all gay-agenda issues and cases.
Can the President pardon state-level offenses?
This particular florist, like the Baker, was probably targeted. The Left wants to make an example of someone. How many more florists in Washington state (and all other states with similar laws) will dare defy them when financial ruin is the result?
Our pastor took a strong and public stance a few years ago against an aggressive "anti-discrimination" ordinance. Because we were afraid that our pastor would be targeted and ask to perform a gay "wedding" ceremony, the elders drafted a church policy that the elders of the church (including the pastor) can only officiate wedding ceremonies involving a church member in good standing or involving someone whom has had a long-term relationship with our church or an elder. We are purposely stating that we only provide this service for people whom we know and not just to anyone who makes a request.
