Introduction Thread to "Final Authority"
Grady Publishing ^ | March 15, 1993 | William Grady

Posted on 06/27/2017 4:25:56 PM PDT by Pilgrim's Progress

We are going to go through this book in a very slow fashion - no hurry.

This subject is completely a matter of faith. Those that reject or do not possess a particular preference for the King James Bible are welcome to visit and participate - but this is not an argument thread. I am not responsible to convince anyone against his or her will.

Either you have faith in a God that is able to preserve His Word or you do not - but you are not going to convince us to reject our faith that the King James Bible is the ONLY Bible that God is blessing for the English Speaking people. And He has been doing it for the past 406 years

If you want on or off the PING list please Freepmail me, thanks.

>>The bottom line is, will Christians embrace the 1611 Authorized Version as their final authority or will they appeal to the dictates of human tradition?

So it’s a matter of “either-or” right? Well, that’s too bad because presumably it means the majority of Christian since 1611, and ALL Christians before then, are now in the flames!
God, why did you let this happen?

1. What was the Word of God in 1610?

2. There is a major religion that claims the most important part of the Word of God was not available until 1827 and not published until 1830. The claim is that when God said he would preserve His Word on the Earth, He meant that for a significant stretch of time He would preserve it in the Earth. I find this claim as ludicrous as the idea that, after John put down his pen on Patmos, it took until 1611 for it to be available in it's true form.

3. What is the Word of God in Urdu? or Dutch?

4b. In your Bible, does John 3:16 read "For God so loued þe world, that he gaue his only begotten Sonne: that whosoeuer beleeueth in him, should not perish, but haue euerlasting life."? If not, you are not using the KJV of 1611, but the "Authorized Version", authorized by the Church of England (Episcopalian), and most recently updated IIRC in the 1850s.

4b. What does II Maccabees 2:4 say? If you can't look it up in your Bible, it isn't the KJV of 1611.

>> Now if the words that Jesus spoke to us were not translated perfectly or if they were not transmitted correctly how can God possibly require anything from anyone who does not hearken to His words?

Have you any idea how many variations in the wording of Scripture translations there have been over the last 19 centuries? And how many variations and contradictions of Scripture interpretation occur every hour of every day?
I assume none of that matters at all to people who have convinced themselves that the translation they favor is PERFECT as is their own personal understanding it. My my, such certitude!!

So I guess poor old God is going to be eating a lot of crow on judgement day. He's just going to have to let everyone in heaven because He was powerless to preserve His own words.

Mankind finally figured out a way to get one over on God Almighty.

I expected silliness to abound on this thread . . . and I am not surprised.

When John put down his pen that day on Patmos . . . he sent his letter to the seven churches of Asia - who recopied them and sent to other churches who repeated the process. The letter that John penned was painstakingly reissued over and over again and not one jot or tittle was lost in the transcription.

Those words were available in the churches and were collated and brought together by the faithful, godly, SAVED men that were members of the translation committee to prepare the AUTHORIZED version.

Our God is simply a whole lot bigger than your little god.

I’ve even been rebuked for giving God the glory for allowing me the blessing of memorizing His Word.

There were some that appear to be honestly touched by our honour of the King James Bible - but the strife will make it difficult to present our convictions.

If there were errors in the preserved text how could God threaten those that would add or take away from that Word?

Amazing!

Exactly!

Not only that, but if God is so powerless to preserve His own word for all eternity, which by the way He "hast magnified thy word above all thy name.(Psalm 138:2)"

He must also be powerless to preserve anyone's soul for all eternity. How sad, many here seem to serve a feeble, incompetent God.

Not me brother! My God is able, yeah more than able!

Eternal security is only as good as God’s Word . . . if the Bible is Holey then it certainly is not Holy! But we are convinced that God’s Word is wholly what it promises to be and will do what it promises.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:

“So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it” (Isaiah 55:8-11).

AMEN! PRAISE GOD!!!

No sir, no one ever has or ever will “get one over on God”! We can be confident that God, being God, has the situation firmly in hand no matter what anyone who has ever lived or ever will live thinks or believes, or says or does. Comforting truth isn’t it?

You did! God says very clearly that whosoever doesn't hearken to Jesus' words, He will require it of that person.

You say, we don't have all of Jesus' words, and the ones we do have can't be trusted. Therefore why should you be required to hearken to them?

They have all been corrupted, according to you, so God can't hold you to account, right?

I said no such thing, but you’re doing exactly what countless Christians and others do regarding the Scriptures. They read them and then interpret their meaning to conform them with various beliefs they already have.

Have you any idea how many variations in the wording of Scripture translations there have been over the last 19 centuries?

Then perhaps you can explain to me what you mean by the words "many" "variations" "wording" "Scripture" and "translations"

I took it as your thinking, that man has changed the word of God over the last 19 centuries.

And since there are so "many" "variations" of "wording" in the different "Scripture" "translations" who could really know what words are true and what words are false.

But if that's not what you meant then please enlighten me.

I have never met street preachers or open air evangelists with anything but a KJB in their hands. Maybe someone else has.

You need to get out more.

Look please:

Textus Receptus Greek New Testament On Line

Luke 2:41

kai eporeuonto oi goneis autou kat etos eis ierousalhm tE eorth tou pasca

AND WENT THE parents OF-Him according-to YEAR INTO JERUSALEM to-THE FESTIVAL OF-THE PASSOVER

Either the Textus Receptus here is denying the Divinity of Christ, or parsing the word "parents" in such a manner is an injustice. You will pardon me, I hope, if I hew to the latter position.

You speak of the “word of God” as if you think He sent the completed KJV of the Bible down from Heaven. The fact is ordinary men were inspired by God to write the Scriptures that were eventually deemed by the human leaders of His Church to be inspired. Those Scriptures, gathered together by His Church leaders became the canon of Scripture that is the collection of books called the Bible. Those Scriptures, mostly in the Aramaic language were translated into many languages. And since there were no typewriters or computers around, they were translated on hand-written manuscripts by men. And since these men were prone to make mistakes, like you are, there were many spelling errors, word transpositions, words dropped out, etc. That is why biblical scholars have been doing biblical research for centuries.
God, knowing that such would be the case, established His Church which, as the Bible tells us, he founded upon Peter (i.e., Petrus, in English, The Rock). And His Church was given the responsibility of teaching the faith in accordance with the CORRECT understanding of the Scriptures. And that is why it is simply absurd for anyone to simply read the Bible and interpret it to suit himself. The absurdity of doing so is clearly manifested in the never-ending divisions that characterize Protestant Christianity.
