FULL TITLE: Student, 18, is suspended for two days and barred from her Christian high school's graduation ceremony because she is PREGNANT
A high school senior will not be allowed to participate in her high school's graduation ceremony because she is pregnant.
Maddi Runkles, 18, from Boonsboro, Maryland, goes to Heritage Academy, a small private Christian school in Hagerstown.
She discovered she was pregnant in January, just a few days after receiving a college acceptance letter, according to the New York Times.
But after she announced her pregnancy, Runkles was suspended for two days.
School officials also removed the 18-year-old from her position on student council and told her she wouldn't be able to join the rest of the senior class at graduation in June.

You are going way past what I stated. I am not among
those “shaming the school”.
She wasn’t expelled, just suspended for two days. I can imagine a girl getting an abortion to avoid expulsion, but not a two-day suspension.
And she is getting her diploma, isn’t she?
True: You don’t want to scare girls into abortions. But some people practically give them a medal for getting pregnant.
Hey, who needs standards, right?
We need to be teaching our kids that Actions do NOT have Consequences, right?
“If it feels good, DO IT!”
“I’m OK, you’re OK, just Chill, Bro’!”
/S
Just because these are the ‘Standards’ of secular schools does not mean they are the proper standards, let alone the wise ones.
Remember the story of the little bird who waited too late to fly South for the winter? “Not everyone who dumps a pile of manure on you is your enemy. Neither is everyone who gets you out of a pile of manure your friend.”
“all they are doing by ostracizing her is teaching the younger girls to hide a pregnancy...abortion etc”

It happened where I grew up——back in 1949.
As soon as it was discovered she was off to the Florence Crittenton Home.
It was the talk of the town back in those days.
.
Now, another girl who gets pregnant may consider abortion, because she doesn’t want to be humiliated in similar fashion.
Oh
so it was the principal’s own son ???
now things are being to click...
Wow. And on the religious board.
For those who may be confused by the fictions on this thread, the story clearly states:
“The 18-year-old told the Times that the child’s father does not go to Heritage.
Pregnancy should not be a cause of punishment.
Or, just maybe they are teaching girls at this school to practice abstinence so as to avoid consequences like this and that abortion is always wrong? Don't assume that sexual purity wasn't taught from the start and that Christians are expected to obey God's commands against fornication. That this girl continued her unplanned pregnancy is a good thing but she was a student council member and as a leader among the other students, she has an obligation to be an example of how Christians should live in these days. She wasn't denied a diploma, only from participating in the graduation ceremonies. We don't know how far along she was, but the school has a reputation to uphold within the community. If the baby's father was also a senior, it's only fair that he receive the same treatment.
We don't know if the school counseled her, helped her, loved and accepted her as a child of God while showing her why her presence would send the wrong message. All we hear is a little information that could cause a knee-jerk reaction to condemn the school while praising the young woman for keeping the child she willfully conceived - though probably by mistake.
I think we have all seen what happens in public school where even junior high girls are pregnant and attending class - some even bring their babies with them to school. Should private Christian schools encourage the same thing? Parents pay good money for their kids to get a good education and Christian schools have a reputation for teaching good morals and upholding holy living. It's expected.
Why are you waxing personal??? Is Nana not allowed to have an opinion?
Wow, Arthur! I actually agree with you. ;o)
Yeah, back then morality was seen as a societal good. Today we have out-of-wedlock births close to 80% in some groups with the associated problems that go with them like abject poverty and multi-generational welfare. Was it a good trade off?
Maryland “Freak State” PING!
Thank you. I hadn’t seen that video before. So very true.
