Some years ago, a young lady sat on the step with me at work....and blurted out that she had an abortion...on this day...4 years ago.

Her parents wouldn't help her except to give her the money for an abortion.

Sad...I repeat....she needs help...not a hammer.

I didn’t sign a morality contract when I went to a Private Catholic All Girls School.

Pregnancy is beautiful. In my opinion, the school is making a mistake.

There was a time when most bastard children would probably not agree with you.

but I hope they have thought and prayed about it.

They probably have, that is how they came up with the decision not to reward the adult girl for her immoral behavoir.

The rules are the rules. And really while at 18 one thinks their high school graduation is a big deal, it isn’t. I didn’t go to mine, 30 years later don’t care. So long as she gets the diploma everything else is just dressing funny.

I still don’t get how the school had anything to do with your group, so how could they do anything about anyone outside their attending group?

I’d agree generally one must be careful about dresses (ANYwhere). This is not to say dresses weren’t blowing up in the old days. They had coasters, and sizzlers, up/down and fast-enough rides to have to be careful (it’s also why we wear “slips” and so on). Yes, there are more opportunities today especially with hang-coasters and other dropping rides. But not different enough as far as risk, I think.

In fact, maybe I’ll wear a dress to the kids’ park this year and test it out (I’m more daring than my son, so that isn’t really the problem).

If the male in the equasion was a student at the same
school and received similar consequences as the young
lady then we could all be content that the Lord’s
justice was served, couldn’t we?

Hi Morgana. I’m going to get flamed for this but this type of reaction/punishment is why some girls/women choose abortion. Okay.. we got it.. she had sex out of wedlock. That being said, she is a straight A student and holds two jobs. She could have easily gotten an abortion and walked to get her diploma with no one the wiser in the crowd but she chose life instead of convenience. Instead of promoting the responsibility of life... the principal has donned his scarlet letter upon her. Whore, slut, fill in the blank. When I was in high school (a Catholic one) they threw out a junior who got pregnant BUT allowed the father of the child to remain in school. That being said, I am praying for this girl that she can have the child and get an education for herself. May the Lord give her strength and comfort despite the public “stoning” her so called Christian school is giving her. “nuff said.

They seemed to use fear to force the kids and their parents to comply.

Being a guy, I’ve never worn a dress (well, except...no, won’t go there) but it seems that you’d be spending a lot of time holding down the bottom of it.

Yes, but she also stated that the father did not go to the school and that they did not plan on getting married.

But maybe she knows who the father is and maybe she don`t so it only involves her and they should not change the rules just to make her look like she did the right thing.

We all do wrong things but most of us do not expect to get rewarded for it.

I agree, what we don`t agree on is what is help and what is a hammer.

The only thing she got was her hands slapped, that is not a hammer and it is not punishment.

Notice that I used the word “if” when I described the
situation of the father. The father is no less guilty of
anything in this matter and it seems you might agree.

A nephew of mine graduated from a Christian school 4 years ago, there were about 5 students that were not allowed to walk in graduation. None were pregnant, but had violated other rules.

These are private schools and have their rules and every right to enforce them. If they enforce some and not others that creates other issues.

I do agree with other posters that this might not be a wise response to an out of wedlock pregnancy; and they might want to rethink their rules. I think the shaming of pregnant girls/women had a part in abortion becoming legal in this country though I am at a loss how you demonstrate that it is wrong while supporting life. Whatever their rules are now they must enforce them as I see it.

This is a private institution. I have zero problem with them banning pregnant girls (assuming they aren’t married and were not raped).

Same here... It’s a private Christian School. They have rules to go by..

The media is using this to drive a stake through
Christian schools like the gay marriage thing...
