One of the biggest complaints against Pulpit & Pen we get consistently is that we somehow dont have all our facts, or are misrepresenting someone or something. I received countless emails claiming that I misrepresented Greek Orthodoxy in my recent posts regarding Hank Hanegraaff and that I should do more research. Well, what better way to research than to go straight to the source in person? Saturday, April 15, known as Holy Saturday in the Orthodox tradition, I along with a couple of friends went to visit St. Nektarios Greek Orthodox Church in Charlotte, NCthe church that Hanegraaff was recently chrismated in. The service began at 11:30 pm, and was still going strong showing no signs of slowing down when we decided to leave at around 2:00 am. While we hoped to have the opportunity to confront Hanegraaff in person, being that we all had to get up early the next morning to worship the living God on Easter morning, we decided to call it a night early. However, there are quite a few things that we can take away from this experience in this church.

Hanegraaffs con game is all to obvious.
He has a well develope cache of platitudes and cute little “ditties” he has used for many many years now. Total canned answers that he will restate the callers question in his words so the answer he uses will fit.
The name “Bible Answer Man” is incredibly presumptuous and probably blasphemous.

Someone out there has topped him! There’s a guy - I forget what city he’s in - who hosts a radio show called “The Jesus Christ Show”. He calls himself the “Holy Host”.
Here’s a sample: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGlc5zqg_Xk
“Holy Host” interviewed by Greg Gutfeld on Fox: http://video.foxnews.com/v/3920495/?#sp=show-clips He admits in the interview that he pretends to be God.

I wonder if when he went to that church he realized he eas about to do a hit piece on himself.
I came across the Bible Answer Man radio show YEARS ago and thought he came across as pompous and not very helpful to the questioners. It’s a blast from the past just to hear his name again.
What’s your affiliation?
If you listen to him for one week you will hear everything he has to say and will started to be able to mouth the words before he gives his “answer”.
Starting with a whole lot of ignorance there, and no improvement in the course of the discourse.

I have read some other things this blogger has written on this issue, so I read the excerpt only; I am not going to give him a hit. I’ll make the assumption that they were okay with Hanegraaf before he left the plantation. I did read J.D. Hill’s follow-up to Maple’s original piece. I really don’t have time for their kind of ignorance (I had never heard of them before this controversy, and that was a blessing), and I have nothing but for contempt for someone who visits a church on its holiest celebration with the hope of confronting one of its members. That they had to leave the service early because they had to “worship the living God” in the morning says it all. If they had stayed, and if they weren’t so ignorant, they would have found the living God at St. Nectatios. Christos anesti!
I asked because I wondered if it was something where’d you’d have a grudge against Hannegraaf.
But that seems not the case.
What do you have against him?
Full disclosure: to my shame, some 45 years ago, when I was young and stupid, I emitted words --- and I mean "emitted" in front of a microphone in a public park, and on more than one occasion --- which were equally offensive and imbecilic. I writhe a little now, inside, when I think of it.
I don't think I was recorded. Thank God.
Unfortunately, Maples' words will live on in Internet eternity. Sincerely, I feel sorry for him.
I hope I can get back the IQ points I lost as result of reading that stupidity.
“I hope I can get back the IQ points I lost as result of reading that stupidity.”
I know what you mean.
It also makes no sense in view of the theology he formerly professed. If the Bible in the hands of the individual believer is the final authority, of what use is a "Bible Answer Man"? His own theology denied that his "ministry" had any purpose!
These pulpit and pen jokers are the ones that said the Copts aren’t Christians. I remember they came out with this right after those 21 Egyptian Christians were decapitated by ISIS animals. The whole point was that many Evangelicals and Baptists were calling them Christian Martyrs and the pulpit and pen pinheads were upset that they were being recognized as Christians.
Freegards
Words fail me. It’s been a really long time since I’ve read anything this ignorant and insulting. Going to another church for their Easter service for the purpose of trashing it and “confronting” one of its new members... I don’t know what denomination this man belongs to, but if this is what they pass for Christian behavior you may color me unimpressed.
