After many long years of witnessing the concept being attacked so viciously on the pages of this forum (more in past years than more recently) I had no idea Sola Scriptura had come so strongly into vogue among traditional Catholics.

Consider the Supreme Court. They have the job of interpreting the law and the Constitution, and providing definitive judgements to resolve any ambiguities and lack of clarity in what has been written. They do NOT have the job of "legislating from the bench", and for them to render judgments that are contrary to the plain language of what is written is a violation of the trust associated with their positions.
