Why Are Christian Women Watching 'Fifty Shades Darker'?

The unavoidable truth is that many are becoming desensitized. When the Holy Spirit no longer fills hearts and minds with a passion for purity and holiness, there is a general lack of conviction.

Compromise in this area can be well-illustrated through a story I heard years ago.

Eskimos in the barren North often kill wolves by taking a razor-sharp knife and dipping it in blood. They allow the blood to freeze to the blade. Then they bury the handle of the knife in the snow with the blade exposed. As the wolf begins to lick the blade, his tongue becomes numb and desensitized due to the cold. As he continues, his tongue begins to bleed, and he licks even faster—unaware that he is consuming his own blood and slowly killing himself.

Within time, the Eskimos return and bring the dead animal home. In the same way, the enemy numbs us through compromise. Within time, we, like the wolves, don't realize that we are dying—dying spiritually. The enemy desensitizes us until we are numb to the things of God.

Maybe its’ because as a pastor he encounters those who do.

I doubt it’s who he’s hanging out with, but when people come to him, he hears about it.

The author spends the entire article telling women that they are not being faithful enough and are at fault by failing to live up a standard.

Maybe the man need to buy a Barry White CD and TCOB.

Anyone who really grasps what it cost to procure our salvation would not treat it with such contempt.

Amen.

its started with men being emboldened by the "playbody" philosophy...

making women objects instead of God's creation, and sex just another bodily function....

I wonder why Christian men take part in such things, but they always have the same answer...there are no victims so it must be okay....

there are victims...

its starts with morality people....

the entire country would be transformed if we got back to a moral code...

You’re not reading the same article that I did then.

I don’t know where you got that from.

Could you provide some examples of where he did that? Just copy and paste them from the article at the link?

Because they think it’s a romance novel.

<<They are Deaf (capital D) or hard of hearing and it is a point of cultural identification for them. That’s what they call themselves and that’s what they prefer.<<

They bask in it. They enjoy their privileged status of having a disability recognized by the ADA and all the perks that go with it but being able to do 99% of the things that hearing people can.

Like drive — which they do badly and dangerously).

Ask a deaf person if you could make them hearing today whether they would want that. 99% say no.

A lack of self-discipline and a corresponding worship of self-indulgence.

oh my gosh is that a true story about the wolves licking a knife and killing themselves? omg that’s the weirdest story I’ve ever heard. 50 shades has nothing on the eskimos. Damn. Just, damn.

If he is and they are regular members of his church then maybe he is not doing his job.

Sorry, but I can not even imagine going to my pastor asking if it would be permissible to see this kind of thing much less telling him that I did so.

It is so far beyond what is good for a child of God that it would be like asking if it was ok if I roasted the neighbors for dinner.

I’m not saying he was. It was just a thought.

I’ve read his stuff before and it seems pretty solid.

He must be hearing of it somewhere.

I can’t imagine asking either, but you know I think the problem has become that people cannot think for themselves and exercise discernment so they do go and ask stuff like this.

I think that as our culture becomes desensitized, you do get people who honestly don’t see what’s wrong with it.

I’ve researched it enough to know what it’s about but I don’t have to partake of cyanide to know that it’s going to kill me.

“it glorifies abusive relationships.”

exactly why I won’t get near those books/movies. Can’t comprehend that mindset at all. There are much better ways to spell sexy.

The catholic point of views;

Protestant Descent Into Secularism

In June of this year, the largest Presbyterian denomination in America voted to allow their clergy to perform same-sex “marriages” within the church, thus joining the ranks of other Protestant denominations, such as the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Episcopalian Church, and United Church of Christ.
This “evolution” of theology and “modernizing” of church doctrine is a trend that I predict we’ll continue to see in non-Catholic Christian circles for years to come, and not just with marriage. Today, nearly all Protestant denominations support and even advocate the use of artificial birth control, and many allow at least some level of support for abortion.
Of course, not all Protestants are willing to “move with the times”, so to speak; there remains, especially among the more conservative groups, quite a bit of dissent. However, it cannot be denied that many modern day Protestant denominations are falling further into the depths of secularism.

The left has embraced the identity of a post Christian America while Russia has outlawed homosexuals, abortion and protestants and jehovas witnesses, evangelicals and mormons and moslems.

They know about hip-rap-hop being played at high volume in cars with the windows rolled down (so the world can enjoy it too). Plus bad pop music played in every retail establishment.

It’s kind of hard to see why Ess-kee-moe would be worse than In-you-it. Sounds like a sex toy.

They are Deaf (capital D) or hard of hearing and it is a point of cultural identification for them.

Then why were the liberals a few years ago telling us we couldn't go to church and sing, "Hear him, ye deaf; his praise, ye dumb, your loosened tongues employ".
