Six bishops of the Syrian Orthodox Church have accused their Patriarch Ignatius Ephem II of betrayal of the faith, after the Patriarch made a gesture of respect for the Quran and referred to the prophet Mohammed.
During a meeting with Muslim leaders, the Syrian Patriarch raised the Quran in an indication of reverence. That gesture outraged some Syrian prelates, whose protests were acknowledged by the Patriarch as a serious internal problem for his Orthodox community.
The Patriarch defended his expressions of respect for Islam. Christ loves everyone, and calls us to be peacemakers with everyone, he explained.

Yes, Christ loves everyone, but He does not compromise the truth. The Koran is false.
This isn’t the eastern orthodox bishop in communion with greece, Russia, etc..
This is the Oriental orthodox bishop in communion with the coptic church of egypt.
Wish the Vatican would issue a similar rebuke to our anti-Pope. Sigh.
I believe that this is an attempt 'to go along, to get along' by the local Church.
The alleged prophet, Muhammed, plagiarized Jewish and New Testament in an attempt to tempt new members to join him,
when this was unsuccessful, he told followers to ignore the first 12 chapters, but to follow the remainder of the Koran.
My God doesn't need to omit passages of scripture which should be ignored, nor does he use 'white out'!
