Priests ‘Should Learn About Climate Change as Part of Their Formation’

Updated Vatican guidelines say clergy must promote care for creation

The Catholic Church needs holy, healthy and humble priests and that requires prayers for vocations and the careful selection and training of candidates, the Congregation for Clergy has said.

Updating 1985 guidelines for preparing men for the Latin-rite priesthood and ensuring their continuing education, training and support, the Congregation for Clergy released “The Gift of the Priestly Vocation”, a detailed set of guidelines and norms for priestly formation.

The updated document draws heavily on St John Paul II’s 1992 apostolic exhortation on priestly formation, as well as on the teaching of and norms issued by Benedict XVI and Pope Francis and by Vatican offices over the past three decades.

It reaffirms an instruction approved by Benedict XVI in 2005, which said, “the Church, while profoundly respecting the persons in question, cannot admit to the seminary or to holy orders those who practice homosexuality, present deep-seated homosexual tendencies or support the so-called ‘gay culture.'”

The document insists that through courses in pastoral theology, the example of priests and practical experience, candidates for the priesthood learn that priestly ministry involves – as Pope Francis says – being “shepherds ‘with the smell of the sheep’, who live in their midst to bring the mercy of God to them.”

Highlighting lessons learned over the past 30 years from the clerical sexual abuse scandal, the new guidelines state: “The greatest attention must be given to the theme of the protection of minors and vulnerable adults, being vigilant lest those who seek admission to a seminary or to a house of formation, or who are already petitioning to receive holy orders, have not been involved in any way with any crime or problematic behaviour in this area.”

Don’t they know that most AGW believers will say the Church’s stance on abortion and birth control is a big contributor to global warming?

Yes. Priests, and everybody else SHOULD learn about climate change.

Everything you need to know about the climate change agenda was stated quite clearly by the UN's top climate official in 2015:

"This is probably the most difficult task we have ever given ourselves, which is to intentionally transform the economic development model, for the first time in human history.

"This is the first time in the history of mankind that we are setting ourselves the task of intentionally, within a defined period of time to change the economic development model that has been reigning for at least 150 years, since the industrial revolution. That will not happen overnight and it will not happen at a single conference on climate change, be it COP 15, 21, 40 - you choose the number. It just does not occur like that. It is a process, because of the depth of the transformation."
--Christiane Fugueres, Executive Secretary of UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change)

This is not surprising at all. The catholic church will fall in line with globalism and the Antichrist in the future.

Here’s what they need to learn about AGW:

It’s a fraud perpetrated by the Population Control crowd.
It is intended as an excuse to continue to oppress the third world, lest they improve their cultures and begin demanding control of their own resources.
In the process they must ensure that the U.S. and the West do not use our surplus resources to help them.

Note they won’t support Nuclear Power, even though it has little or no contribution to CO2 levels, which itself contributes nothing to warming.

“the Church, while profoundly respecting the persons in question, cannot admit to the seminary or to holy orders those who practice homosexuality, present deep-seated homosexual tendencies or support the so-called ‘gay culture.'”

Really? Not just "respect", but "profound respect"? Does that also apply to adulterers, fornicators, thieves, liars, idolators?

Is this "respect" and "dignity" like a Participation Trophy? "I breathe, therefore I deserve respect."

Respect (noun) -"a feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements."

God commands us to love everyone, that is to treat them in a way that is for their best good. It does not mean we must like them or their actions, let alone respect them or those actions.

They sure should. They should also learn about Wiccans, Hare Krishnas, Moonies, Scientologists and the rest of the fringe pseudo-religions.

Oh yeah, just skip to the last part of the Bible - Revelation. There he can instruct them about the unstoppable tide of fire that will wipe this planet off the map. Global warming for the win.
