Pope Francis told Father Spadaro he wonders why some young people, who were not raised with the old Latin Mass, nevertheless prefer it.

“And I ask myself: Why so much rigidity? Dig, dig, this rigidity always hides something, insecurity or even something else. Rigidity is defensive. True love is not rigid.”

As a point of inquiry only: why does the Mass have to be in Latin?

Just curious. No debate intended.

Why so much rigidity in those who oppose those have a love for tradition?

He just wants everyone to do as he says. The church is ALL about rigidity. Geez...

Not 5 minutes ago I was thinking how hard, often and fervently I prayed over the election and it is time to double down on our prayer for our, One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic church.

Why does the Catholic church use the Bible for scriptures?

Such rigidity.

Why can’t they use the Koran, or Marvel Comics or maybe Penthouse magazine?

In many ways, Pope Francis reminds me of the ruling elite who were just b!tch-slapped by the Brexit and US voters.

If he really wanted to know what motivates these young people who prefer the Traditional Latin Mass, he could simply call a meeting and talk to them.

And I ask myself: Why so much rigidity?

I'd like to ask His Holiness the same question. Why the rigid opposition to tradition and those who love it? Why the daily judgmentalism and invective directed at faithful Catholics? Why doesn't "Who am I to judge?" apply to those who love the TLM? What is he afraid of?

In authorizing regular use of the older Mass, now referred to as the “extraordinary form,” now-retired Pope Benedict XVI was "magnanimous" toward those attached to the old liturgy, he said. “But it is an exception.”
Thank you. Papa Francisco. Now try this one on for size:
In authorizing regular use of laity at communion, known as 'extraordinary ministers,' the Church was being magnanimous. But they are an exception.

Bergoglio says Benedict was “magnanimous” in “allowing” the celebration of the old Mass.

Baloney. As Benedict made clear, the old Mass was “never abrogated” and its celebration was NEVER FORBIDDEN.

It’s a foolish CEO who trashes his best customers. Imagine the Chairman of General Motors lamenting the rigidity of a hardcore group of buyers who persistently choose V8 Camaros.

What a remarkably ungracious and uncompassionate statement from the Pope of mercy, assuming bad motivations on the part of other people and belittling the glorious liturgical tradition of the western church that fed the spirituality countless saints over the centuries! Sheesh. Where is simple human decency and tolerance for legitimate aspirations of others?

More solemn, increases culture, preserves traditions, and is the same wherever you go in the world.

I think the Pope misunderstands much, and this is just another example.

One of the attractions of the Latin Mass is its otherworldliness, which is like a tonic in our very profane culture.

I admit I’m not Catholic, and I don’t understand worship that I can’t... well, understand.

Having said that, traditional worship is traditional for a reason. And that’s because it’s tried and tested, and it works!

Hey, Dope, I think you have more important things to worry about like the slime invaders of Italy demanding that Italy builds mosques for them - you know the places they will use for armories and terror planning.

And if Italy doesn’t, they threaten to attack the Vatican. But maybe you won’t be home when they do.

First Pope, ever, who repeatedly says that those who disagree with him, or even have different tastes, are neurotic, have a personality disorder, or are probably living a “double life.” (That’s Catholic code for sexual sin.)

He’s the first pro-abortion Pope. Go to Bing, and search for EMMA BONINO POPE FRANCIS

Asked about the liturgy, Pope Francis insisted the Mass reformed after the Second Vatican Council is here to stay and “to speak of a ‘reform of the reform’ is an error."

That sounds a bit......ya know......"rigid".
