PARAMUS – Thousands of alumni of Paramus Catholic High School and their friends and family have signed an impassioned open letter to school officials chastising the school for firing a female dean who married a woman.
The letter, written to President James P. Vail and school administrators, was issued days after a judge refused to throw out the suit brought against the school by former Dean Kate Drumgoole, who was terminated because she is in a same-sex marriage.
It demands the school apologize and enact policies against sex and gender discrimination following the firing of a gay woman who has filed a lawsuit. Nearly 4,000 people had signed the letter by Thursday morning.
The alumni say they are disappointed with the school's decision to terminate Drumgoole.
"By your decision, you perpetuate misinformed hate against individuals on the basis of their gender and sexuality," the letter states. "From your position of power and privilege, you deny lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer students a psychologically safe learning environment."
A woman who answered the phone in Vail's office referred all questions about the letter to the Archdiocese of Newark. Jim Goodness, a spokesman for the Archdiocese, said officials there would have no comment because of the pending litigation.

Firing of homosexual Dean Perpetuates Hate, Catholic High School Alumni Write.
If they're so proud of being sodomites, then call it as it it! And if this moron doesn't know the Biblical reasons for her sins, then she should be fired. It's a Catholic school, not a public "skrewel."
Liberals have good branding as “love”, which lets them label all who disagree with them as “hate” and “haters”.
It denies the other side any legitimacy of their arguments, just write it off as irrational bigotry, while demonizing the speaker in the same insult.
Bishops need to have the courage to shut down schools that have failed TOTALLY to transmit the Catholic Faith.
(No bishop will ever do so.)
They care more about people doing abomination that God hates.
Not a winning position.
If they really loved this woman they would plead with her to turn away from her lifestyle that God detests. That would be Godly love.
.... and hospitals that are forced by government edict to violate doctrine.

Bullying the Church, as usual. The lesbian had no business working as a leader at a Catholic school since she cannot support the Catholic faith. Shame on the 4000 who took her side in this obvious slap at Catholic doctrine. She is the one who is discriminating against those following church teaching.
Everyone can use this.Hey,I don’t have to follow church teaching,she didn’t..Force her to show up in court as hostile witness.I bet there are students and teachers who could sue for millions and use the lesbian as the reason why it’s okay.Find ways to shut these lib schools down and watch the bishops spring into action.
So, they’re demanding that the school retain a woman as a high ranking administrator who is not even qualified to take communion at a CATHOLIC school?
We just went to the meet and greet for my daughter’s new school.
It is an Episcopal school, the conservative one in our city as opposed to the other one which is liberal.
2 minutes into the spiel it became apparent that the headmaster is a homosexual. I am 90% sure the dean is also a homosexual.
I lived in SF for many years. My gaydar is finely tuned.
I don’t want to create conflict. Certainly there are other parents who see it.
I’m sure you’re quite adept at spotting them. I’m so sorry that you can’t escape such characters even in a supposedly “conservative” parochial school.
It’s getting to be a minefield out there.
