God loves everyone and does want everyone to know him, but yet more and more people believe that they have no responsibility in their relationship with God, other than to believe that they were saved and have to do nothing else.

Maybe so, but when you find someone here who teaches that, please let us know.

One will always find some other entity, whether it be Mary or the ‘church’ is the object of the worship. And yet denial is in full force when called out on where the emphasis is literally placed.

The Catholic Church is the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church founded by Christ on the Apostles.

You do believe the Bible, don’t you?

Yes, I do believe the Bible.

Please show me in the Bible where your first statement is found.

Book, chapter, and verse please.

I have to wonder.....

What exactly is the mentality of a Catholic who tries so hard to get a believer to doubt his salvation?

It’s like if they can’t have it, nobody can.

Do they really want others to go through life in fear and trembling, expecting the worst, never knowing if you’ve been good enough until it’s too late?

What kind of god is that?

Not the One I find in Scripture, that’s for sure.

If it’s Jesus + anything, then the faith is in the anything because by adding the anything, they are saying Jesus isn’t enough.

It doesn’t say that at all. Read it. By the way, those are the words of Jesus, not his.

I honestly can’t see how you came up with this from that article.
....................................................

It’s quite obvious that they are the words of Jesus. My question to you is:

Why did the author use them in the context of answering the question about the fate of non Catholics?

My previous response is the only answer. Otherwise there would have been no need to put the quote in the article. He is saying all non Catholics are getting a beating. Some just worse than others.

Here is the quote again:

Jesus says, “That servant who knew his master’s will but did not make preparations or act in accord with his will shall be beaten severely and the servant who was ignorant of his master’s will but acted in a way deserving of a severe beating, shall be beaten only lightly” (Lk 12:47-48).

Every time it gets said that a ‘church’ object is the vehicle to salvation it is a lie. There are 7 churches listed in Revelation... only two have the salvation message.

So ... you don’t have to be a Catholic to be a Catholic ?

Lol. I THINK the message is that every culture that ever was, is and will be generally had, has and will have the basic crimes and sins that encompass our very own ten commandments. Not much new in the way of sin.

The Catholic (catholic means universal) Church embodies Jesus as the Savior of humanity. He died for all our sins. We owe Him our undying gratitude for that.
The least we can do is try to live out our lives doing what Jesus wants us to do:
Love God and love each other. It's simple and pure but not often easy.

I guess what we are all trying to say to you is that it is not good for your soul to bring railing accusations against Catholics. Especially a Catholic Priest who, once you discount the Babylonian Mystery Religion birds that have nested in the Catholic Mustard Tree, is as close as one can be to understanding the Narrow Way that is Mere Christianity.

Romans 10
8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach):
9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”
12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him.

Nelson, Thomas (2009-02-18). Holy Bible, New King James Version (NKJV) (p. 1100). Thomas Nelson. Kindle Edition.

1 Thessalonians 4
13 But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope.
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.
15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep.
16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.
17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.
18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.

Nelson, Thomas (2009-02-18). Holy Bible, New King James Version (NKJV) (p. 1146). Thomas Nelson. Kindle Edition.

1 Thessalonians 5

1 But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you.
2 For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night.
3 For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape.
4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief.
5 You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness.
6 Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.
7 For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night.
8 But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation.
9 For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
10 who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him.
11 Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.

Nelson, Thomas (2009-02-18). Holy Bible, New King James Version (NKJV) (pp. 1146-1147). Thomas Nelson. Kindle Edition.

Revelation 2
7 “’”Whoever has ears ought to hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
To the victor I will give the right to eat from the tree of life that is in the garden of God.”’
- - - - -
11 “’”Whoever has ears ought to hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
The victor shall not be harmed by the second death.”’

17 “’”Whoever has ears ought to hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
To the victor I shall give some of the hidden manna; I shall also give a white amulet upon which
is inscribed a new name, which no one knows except the one who receives it.”’
- - - - -
24 But I say to the rest of you in Thyatira, who do not uphold this teaching and
know nothing of the so-called deep secrets of Satan: on you I will place no further burden,
25 except that you must hold fast to what you have until I come.
26 “’”To the victor, who keeps to my ways until the end, I will give authority over the nations.
27 He will rule them with an iron rod. Like clay vessels will they be smashed,
28 just as I received authority from my Father. And to him I will give the morning star.
29 “’”Whoever has ears ought to hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”’
- - - - -
Revelation 3
4 However, you have a few people in Sardis who have not soiled their garments;
they will walk with me dressed in white, because they are worthy.
5 “’”The victor will thus be dressed in white, and I will never erase his name
from the book of life but will acknowledge his name in the presence of my
Father and of his angels.
6 “’”Whoever has ears ought to hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”’
- - - - -
20 “’”Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and
opens the door, [then] I will enter his house and dine with him, and he with me.
21 I will give the victor the right to sit with me on my throne, as I myself
first won the victory and sit with my Father on his throne.

22 “’”Whoever has ears ought to hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”’”
- - - - -

* [2:7] Victor: referring to any Christian individual who holds fast to the faith
and does God’s will in the face of persecution. The tree of life that is in the
garden of God: this is a reference to the tree in the primeval paradise (Gn 2:9);
cf. Rev 22:2, 14, 19. The decree excluding humanity from the tree of life has
been revoked by Christ.

“Is it your desire to provoke the ire of faithful born-again Christians?”

So, Catholics should shut up, lest they provoke you?

“Or have you been promised a plenary indulgence for these postings?”

Jeez, Rip Van Darkages, you really should know something about that which you choose to slander.

“I could easily come up with something new every single day to criticize Rome or stir up a theological debate with Catholics. Even though I am sure it would be fun”

It would be lonely. We just don’t hate you the way you (you, not all Protestants) hate us.

>>“Or have you been promised a plenary indulgence for these postings?”<<

Jeez, Rip Van Darkages, you really should know something about that which you choose to slander.

The requirements for a plenary indulgence are tougher than for a partial. After all, a plenary indulgence remove all the temporal punishment due for the sins committed up to that time.

(If you sin later, of course, the temporal punishment connected with the new sins isn't covered by the earlier plenary indulgence, but, at least the punishment for the old sins isn't revived.)

"To acquire a plenary indulgence," says the Enchiridion, "it is necessary to perform the work to which the indulgence is attached and to fulfill the following three conditions: sacramental confession, Eucharistic Communion, and prayer for the intention of the Sovereign Pontiff. It is further required that all attachment to sin, even venial sin, be absent."

Looks like they're still in place.

This fool of an author is saying a ‘beating’ awaits me because I don’t agree with him and, I might add, his buffoon of a Pope.

It come be worse...

"One indeed is the universal Church of the faithful, outside which no one at all is saved, in which the priest himself is the sacrifice, Jesus Christ, whose body and blood are truly contained in the sacrament of the altar under the species of bread and wine; the bread (changed) into His body by the divine power of transubstantiation, and the wine into the blood, so that to accomplish the mystery of unity we ourselves receive from His (nature) what He Himself received from ours."

It has to go back to control. The long history of the rcc is evidence of this. From not wanting the people to read the Bible, trying to keep it in Latin and not the native tongues.

The concept of the mortal sin that only a priest can forgive would keep me in abject fear. The priest would never leave my sight.

The lack of trust in Christ in part explains the reliance upon Mary for so much.

All of the doing catholics say is required to keep/earn your salvation shows a lack of faith.

Sometimes i do not see an intelligent discussion of issues or difference, just a response based on personal opinion or feelings. or an unwavering grip on the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
